Pink Tutu Vienna - Post 559 - A Waltz with the Viennese Waltz!

Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday, so it's time for another fabulous Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! As you know, I'm a girl who loves to dance, loves to travel, and loves, loves pink tutus. And what better place to indulge all those passions than the beautiful, elegant, and waltzing city of Vienna?

I arrived in Vienna by train last week, feeling utterly romantic in my newest, hand-crafted, bright pink tutu, complete with sparkling tulle and a delicate, lace-trimmed bodice. I must confess, a few stares came my way at the station. It’s always so fun to see the look on people's faces when I get off the train looking like a sugary pink confection! 😉

Vienna has an air of elegance about it that feels so suited to the delicate nature of my ballet style. The cobbled streets, the beautiful buildings, the parks - everywhere you look, it feels like you're stepping into a scene from a classical ballet! It’s been absolutely magical getting around Vienna by horse and carriage, the rhythmic clip-clop of the horses' hooves against the pavement as we meander through the streets feels so charming. It’s like being whisked away to another era – imagine, ladies! Riding through Vienna on a horse and carriage, my pink tutu swirling gently behind me… it really is a dream come true!

Now, let's get to the reason for my trip! Of course, I had to indulge in some delightful Vienna Ballet – the ultimate experience, you might say!

A Journey Through Time at the Vienna State Opera

Oh my goodness, the Vienna State Opera is absolutely divine! It's truly a grand old lady of the opera world, steeped in history and artistry. On Friday, I enjoyed a spectacular production of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, a beautiful story told through breathtaking movements, stunning costumes, and breathtaking talent. The Vienna State Opera has an unparalleled reputation, and the entire experience left me breathless. And let’s not forget the iconic golden chandelier; it glitters down upon the audience, creating a magical atmosphere. It’s a theatre full of whispers of grandeur and grace, with its velvet red interiors and glistening marble columns. It really takes you back to the elegance and sophistication of a bygone era!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't secretly a little envious of the dancers. They twirled and leapt with such effortless grace. The passion that pulsed throughout the performance was so infectious; you couldn't help but be caught up in the moment! Afterwards, I even managed to catch a glimpse of some of the dancers in their dressing rooms, chatting over glasses of champagne and chatting about the performance.

A Tutu Twist on Viennese History

Talking of elegance and grandeur, no trip to Vienna would be complete without visiting Schönbrunn Palace. This place truly is magnificent! The grandeur of the Habsburg Empire oozes from every corner, and there's a touch of magic that just transports you back to the days of emperors and empresses. The Baroque-style architecture, the intricate gardens, and the vast halls all tell tales of opulence and history.

Of course, I had to strike a few poses in front of the majestic palace, wearing my pink tutu and feeling every inch the princess from a fairytale! I even discovered the imperial gardens had their very own ballet hall, and let me tell you, it’s as dazzling and exquisite as the palace itself! Just imagine practicing my plies and fouettes in a space built for the Imperial Family. It's every ballet enthusiast's dream!

A Tutus and Treasures Shopping Spree

No girl trip is complete without a bit of retail therapy, right? I indulged in a luxurious afternoon browsing the boutiques and shops along the famous Kärntner Straße. Vienna has a fantastic selection of fashion houses, showcasing everything from exquisite lace and silk to playful vintage designs, all perfect for pairing with a vibrant pink tutu! Of course, I also found the most delightful boutique selling vintage tutus – perfect for those little extra special, whimsical outfits! I even treated myself to a few gorgeous pink silk scarves, the colour of the Vienna State Opera’s red carpets, perfect for my daily ballerina ensembles!

The Magical World of The Vienna Opera Ball

And now, something special. Every year in February, Vienna hosts one of the world’s most spectacular balls - The Vienna Opera Ball! Oh, it's pure fairytale magic! Picture it, ladies: a grand ball at the Vienna State Opera, the beautiful dance floor adorned with a twinkling chandelier, and an elegant orchestra playing timeless classics as the crowd twirls around in their finest attire. It’s a spectacle that truly takes you back to the glamour of Vienna's Golden Era.

There is an unmistakable air of anticipation for this ball in the streets of Vienna, the city really does take on a very special vibe. Imagine hundreds of ladies in their exquisite ball gowns and dancing shoes, dancing until dawn – and that's not even mentioning the amazing spectacle that unfolds as the debutantes make their entrance, in gorgeous pink ball gowns – absolutely divine! I can already feel the butterflies in my stomach, because let’s be honest ladies, this ball is truly my ultimate fairytale moment! I’ll have to take some snaps for the blog, though of course, it’ll take the magic to actually experience it in person!

Vienna - Where the Waltz Captivates the Soul

Speaking of waltzes, let's talk about a beloved local pastime. If you ask any Viennese, they will likely tell you that there is no experience like enjoying a Viennese waltz at the beautiful Kursalon Vienna. With its elegant interiors and beautiful music, it's the perfect place to let the rhythmic music of the waltz captivate your soul and make you want to twirl under a chandelier. I can already imagine how romantic a waltz would be there, my pink tutu a swirling mass of loveliness!

My Viennese Adventures Are Just Beginning…

Ladies, it's only my first week in Vienna, and the adventure is only just getting started! You know me, my love of dance knows no bounds. I’m ready for a ballet show every night! I’ve already been making plans to visit the Schönbrunn Palace again for some of their beautiful musical concerts. I just know it will be the perfect spot to wear my favourite pink tutu and dream about my favourite Viennese stories! I am, after all, an aficionado of all things elegant!

Don't forget, ladies, my next blog will be live next Wednesday, and you know what? I’m already scheming some spectacular photos in Vienna’s parks, to share with you all, to prove to the world that tutus really are for everyone, anywhere and anytime!

I hope this blog post inspires you to embrace your inner princess, twirl with your own pink tutu, and create your own fairytale story, wherever you may be in the world!

See you soon, ladies!

Yours in pink,

Emma
