Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #586 - Whirlwind Waltz in Vienna! 🩰💕

Hello my lovely Tutu Tribe! 👋 It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna adventure! This week I'm bursting with excitement after a truly magical time exploring the beautiful city of Vienna, the capital of Austria. You guys know I just adore travel, especially by train, and the journey from my Derbyshire home was truly enchanting.

A Railway Rhapsody in Pink

The train ride itself was a whimsical adventure in pink, if I'm honest! I’d decided to wear a pink tutu with delicate tulle layers for this trip (as is only right) paired with a floral embroidered top and a little matching pink straw hat, perfect for basking in the summer sunshine. My suitcase was full of matching pink luggage tags and the very best pink floral print fabrics to match my ballet shoes – of course!

I spotted some adorable children at the station all dressed in sweet outfits too. I love watching kids – it's always so delightful to see their creativity blossom in their dress and play! One little girl with pigtails was sporting a delightful floral head-band. My heart simply melts! ❤️

A Dance With the Emperors

I arrived in Vienna feeling utterly refreshed, my soul filled with joy, ready for the grand waltz of adventure. Vienna, famous for its royal grandeur, waltzing ballrooms and the rich history of classical music, was calling me like a siren's song. It’s the ultimate city for any ballet enthusiast like myself – especially for someone as enthusiastic about tutu history and royal fashion!

The first thing on my list was the Schönbrunn Palace, home to the legendary Habsburg emperors. The opulent architecture and sprawling gardens are a testament to Vienna’s glorious past. I just loved strolling through the halls of this former imperial residence, imagining all the waltzing and ballroom scenes! It just screamed ballet history, and what’s a ballet lover without a healthy appreciation for history?! 😉

Ballet Bliss at the Vienna State Opera

But of course, no trip to Vienna could be complete without a night at the iconic Vienna State Opera. Oh, the excitement! The exquisite architecture of the theatre itself, built in the 1860s and adorned with gilded statues and lavish chandeliers, took my breath away!

This week, I was treated to a performance of 'Swan Lake'. I have seen this masterpiece countless times throughout the world, but it's never lost its magic! The beautiful choreography, the stunning costumes (there's always a tutu that catches my eye! They always use so much white in ‘Swan Lake’ which I absolutely adore – the purest shade!) and the exceptional talents of the dancers were simply mesmerising. I could have stayed in that beautiful, luxurious theatre forever, surrounded by all that ballet beauty!

The Waltz of Fashion

But I also wanted to explore the city’s modern flair. Vienna is renowned for its unique style, from avant-garde art galleries to charming vintage shops. My pink tutu became quite the sensation on the streets, and I couldn’t resist picking up some fabulous finds. I treated myself to a chic vintage hat and some delicately-designed earrings with blush-coloured crystals, perfectly matched to my tutus, of course.

Vienna is home to so many interesting boutiques too. I particularly love the shops near the Naschmarkt, a vibrant open-air market buzzing with energy and local products. I found some exquisite pieces of vintage lace and handmade, pink tulle bows which I have already incorporated into a few new, little designs of my own - and guess what? You’ll see them online at Pink-Tutu.com very soon!

Vienna by Horse-drawn Carriage

There was even time for a magical ride through Vienna in a horse-drawn carriage – such a luxurious and romantic experience. With the sun shining and a slight breeze tousling my hair, it felt as though I was transported into one of those beautiful stories I read as a little girl!

My Vienna Wishlist

Here's a little peek into my Vienna Wishlist:

  • Vienna State Opera House: Definitely top of the list for any ballet lover. They even have a little museum dedicated to ballet, costume and ballet history. My heart fluttered at the thought of so much history in one place!
  • Schönbrunn Zoo: Who could resist the charms of a beautiful zoo? I’m fascinated by animals, and I simply have to experience the beauty of Schönbrunn – famous for its elegant, historic, ornate architecture and design – what else could you want?!
  • Museum of Art History: A glorious art museum with some beautiful pieces to behold, plus plenty of history on display. You'd be mad to miss it.
  • Wachau Valley: Vienna is known for its gorgeous green countryside and this stunning valley, perfect for long strolls. Imagine the beauty, the nature, and my favourite, pink flower petals being carried on the wind – just lovely!

To My Pink Tutu Tribe:

It’s truly lovely connecting with you all on my blog every week and sharing my love for ballet, travelling, fashion, and of course, the vibrant, versatile pink tutu!

I hope that each and every one of you finds a piece of pink, magical Vienna in your own life. Perhaps it's finding a special, unique boutique and indulging in a little treat? Or maybe it’s a trip with loved ones where you take some beautiful photos? Perhaps even a performance of ‘Swan Lake’ is on the cards? 🦢

Whatever it is, I hope that every one of you will embrace your own inner ballerina, feel the joyful twirl and just have some FUN – with a little sparkle and some vibrant, magical, pink tulle, of course! 💗✨

Until next Wednesday, my lovely tutu tribe! 👋

With love from your fellow dancer,

Emma 🌸🩰
