Vienna, My Darling! Post #587

Well hello there, darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another pink-tutu-filled update from your favourite travelling ballerina! This week, I’m whisking you away to the heart of Europe, the beautiful and cultured city of Vienna!

Oh, Vienna! Where else can you sip your coffee surrounded by the grandeur of baroque palaces, marvel at breathtaking ballet performances, and lose yourself in the symphony of a horse-drawn carriage clattering down a cobblestone street? It's a city of dreamy elegance, where pink tutus simply HAVE to be worn.

Now, this trip wasn’t simply a jaunt for a few days; I had to work hard for the privilege! Thankfully, my ballet performance in Salzburg went down a treat. Let’s just say those Salzburg locals LOVE a pink tutu (who doesn’t, really?) and that meant enough lovely donations to finance my Viennese escapade. And trust me, the trip was well worth the sweat and graceful pirouettes!

Speaking of performance, I’ve already been swept off my feet by the Vienna State Opera. The ballet was a gloriously captivating whirlwind of tutus and leaps! It’s hard to choose my favourite, but let’s just say it’s definitely vying for a top spot amongst the most spectacular productions I’ve ever seen.

The opulent costumes! I just adored the intricate embroidery and exquisite details on the ballerina's bodices. Talk about giving my sewing machine a serious case of envy! Oh, and the colours – such a sumptuous mix of blush pink, champagne gold, and deep forest green. So chic and timeless, just like Vienna itself.

Vienna's allure goes beyond its impressive ballet performances. It's a city with a soul as deep as the history etched into every cobblestone and painted on every palace wall. And I've been exploring every corner of it, from the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace to the delightful shops tucked away in hidden alleys.

Did I tell you about my shopping spree? It was heaven! You see, the Austrian penchant for delicate lace and feminine silhouettes perfectly matches my own fashion sensibilities. So, I've treated myself to the most charming vintage dress, a perfect match for my new pink tutu, a veritable princess’s dream!

Even my accommodation feels like a scene from a fairytale! It's a cozy little guesthouse tucked away in a quiet street near the opera house, with rose-covered walls and an adorable courtyard where I can enjoy my breakfast with the aroma of freshly-baked bread filling the air. Bliss!

You know, this trip has given me so much inspiration for my next tutu collection. I've been collecting old postcards and snapshots from my adventures, each one bursting with Vienna's unique character, which I'm hoping to capture in the upcoming designs. Maybe some tulle patterns inspired by the baroque swirls of the Hofburg Palace? Or perhaps some sparkling sequins reflecting the warm golden glow of the sunset over the Danube?

I'm feeling truly inspired, Vienna has a way of doing that to you, you know. And speaking of inspiration, it’s made me even more convinced that every woman, regardless of age or size, needs to embrace the pink tutu! I think the city's magic might just rub off on anyone daring enough to don one.

But enough of my rambling! I have more of Vienna to discover and, trust me, you’ll be hearing all about it in next week’s blog! I've been snapping lots of pictures (imagine a ballerina in a pink tutu against the stunning backdrop of Vienna, oh it’s just divine!) and I can’t wait to share them with you all!

So, stay tuned, darlings! Until next Wednesday!

With love and twirls,

Emma, Your Pink Tutu Traveller
