Vienna, my dearest! Post #667: Waltz into Wonder with a Pink Tutu 🩰
Hello my lovelies! It's Wednesday again, and I'm writing to you from the heart of Vienna, a city as elegant and enchanting as a ballerina twirling in a grand ballgown! I'm so excited to share my adventures with you, my little pink tutu-wearing darlings.
Vienna, oh Vienna! This city is truly a symphony of romance and culture, a kaleidoscope of music, art, and history, with just a sprinkle of imperial magic. I have fallen completely in love with the cobbled streets, the quaint coffee houses, the grand palaces, and the infectious energy of the people.
This week, I've been immersed in all things Viennese - from waltzing in the Schönbrunn Palace gardens, to indulging in Sachertorte and coffee at Café Central, to getting lost in the exquisite collections of the Kunsthistorisches Museum.
My Fashion Journey Through Vienna:
Oh, the clothes, my dears! Vienna is a treasure trove of chic and vintage finds. I've spent a blissful few hours browsing the boutiques on Kärntner Strasse, where I discovered a gorgeous blush pink cardigan with delicate lace details that's just perfect for layering over a flowing tutu. Speaking of tutus, I found a charming little shop in a tucked away alleyway filled with the most beautiful handmade tutus. They even had one in a dusty rose colour, which I immediately snapped up.
I've also been taking advantage of the stunning architecture to snap some fabulous photos. You'll find some on my Instagram, naturally. A majestic pink tutu against the backdrop of St. Stephen's Cathedral? Oh my, a picture postcard dream!
From Imperial Dances to Tutu Twirls:
And what trip to Vienna would be complete without seeing a ballet? Yesterday evening, I had the honour of attending a performance of Swan Lake at the Vienna State Opera. The performance was magical - a flurry of tutus, graceful leaps, and powerful storytelling, all set against a backdrop of stunning costumes and vibrant set design. My heart, as always, skipped a beat during the famous "Black Swan" pas de deux, and I found myself entranced by the beauty and emotion of the entire piece. It reminded me once again of the magic and grace of the ballet.
I even had the opportunity to experience a traditional Viennese Waltz lesson. Can you imagine, learning to waltz in the very ballroom where Emperor Franz Joseph himself might have twirled with Empress Elisabeth? It was exhilarating, a step back in time, and a chance to feel the elegance and romance of this legendary city.
Sharing a Slice of Vienna with You:
Now, my dears, you know how much I love a good horse and carriage ride! In Vienna, they are as ubiquitous as the swans in the parks. So of course I booked a private ride through the old town, a gentle, graceful meander through history. The sun glinted off the horse’s gleaming coat, and the air was crisp and filled with the sweet scent of wisteria.
I couldn't resist sharing some of the lovely Viennese treats I’ve discovered. The Sachertorte, of course, was exquisite - rich, decadent, and a perfect marriage of chocolate and apricot. But I also stumbled upon a little bakery hidden in the side streets, which serves the most delightful mini-kugelhupf (that’s a traditional Viennese cake) filled with marzipan. Divine!
Pink Tutus & Viennese Charm:
This trip to Vienna has been a whirlwind of delight and inspiration. From the architectural grandeur to the romantic charm, from the captivating ballet to the delectable desserts, it's a city that stays with you long after you've said "Auf Wiedersehen".
But you know me, I can't let a travel experience pass without some tutu-infused fun! I’ve been wearing my pink tutu everywhere – from the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace to the opulent grand ballroom of the Hofburg Palace. I’ve received many a curious glance and even some excited compliments.
I believe that every day should be a ballet - full of joy, elegance, and grace. And in Vienna, surrounded by beauty and music, that spirit seems to bloom in every corner.
So, my dear friends, as you read this, take a moment to put on a pink tutu (or a pink scarf if you're feeling a little shy). Let your inner ballerina out, dance like no one's watching, and find your own touch of magic. Because life is too short not to wear pink tutus and enjoy the wonders of this beautiful world!
Sending you lots of love and ballet twirls!
Emma
