Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #676 - Ballet & Bubbles in Vienna!
Hello my darling dears! Itās Wednesday, which means itās time for another installment of Pink Tutu Vienna, straight from the heart of the beautiful Austrian capital. This week, Vienna has been a whirlwind of ballet, bubbles and boutiques!
Itās been an absolutely glorious few days, and Iām bursting to share all the delights Iāve discovered.
Before I launch into the adventures, I must confess, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Vienna post without a little fashion update! You all know my passion for pink and tutus, but sometimes, even I crave a little sartorial shake-up. This week, Iāve been indulging my inner Viennese princess, donning an exquisite ivory silk blouse with delicate lace detailing, paired with a gloriously flowing midi skirt, the perfect shade of blush pink. Oh, and naturally, the crowning glory? A shimmering pink tulle tutu layered over the skirt, giving my whole ensemble an air of elegant whimsy! The blush and ivory combination just whispered sophistication, donāt you think?
Now, onto the heart of the matter - ballet! You know Iām utterly captivated by the history of ballet, and Vienna is a treasure trove of balletic wonder. This week, I visited the Vienna State Opera, which is not only a stunning building (and one of my favourite places for ballet) but is also the most beautiful venue for watching a performance.
Imagine, the stage shimmering under golden chandeliers, the dancers twirling with such grace and elegance, all surrounded by a hushed reverence for the artform. Iām lucky enough to get tickets to some absolutely divine performances - this week I was swept away by a mesmerising performance of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The principal dancer, with her stunning physique and powerful technique, brought tears to my eyes with her portrayal of the heartbroken swan queen. Itās moments like these that truly inspire my love for ballet!
But Viennaās ballet charm doesnāt stop at the theatre. This city embraces the graceful art in every corner. This week, I stumbled upon a delightful little ballet studio, tucked away down a quiet cobblestone street. The class was filled with an array of beautiful ladies, all eager to explore their inner dancer. The instructor, a petite but strong woman with a kind smile and a twinkle in her eye, shared a little bit of Vienna's rich balletic heritage with me, explaining that Vienna has a long and celebrated tradition of ballet, from the days of the imperial court to modern day performances.
Youād think all that ballet might make you weary, wouldnāt you? But Vienna is a city that knows how to energise you! After my morning ballet class, I wandered down the charming streets of the Innere Stadt, Vienna's bustling inner city, which is an absolute treat to explore, with its colourful shops, ornate architecture and buzzing cafes. And let me tell you, no visit to Vienna is complete without a taste of the delicious Austrian pastry! My favourite this week was a delicate and delicious Sachertorte, which was simply heavenly - rich chocolate, smooth apricot jam and fluffy whipped cream. Divine!
As if the beautiful buildings, stunning ballet performances and amazing pastry weren't enough, Vienna is a city that thrives on the good life, especially when it comes to coffee! Every cafe boasts the finest cappuccinos and Viennese coffees. You simply have to go for a walk through the city on a sunny day with a perfectly frothy cappuccino. And you absolutely must explore the KaffeehƤuser, the legendary coffee houses, which have been a mainstay of Vienna society for centuries. These cafes are havens of literary and intellectual debate, and you'll often find locals indulging in leisurely conversations, reading newspapers, or working on their latest masterpiece.
I do love exploring, and no better way than by horse-drawn carriage - especially here in Vienna, where the imperial charm lives on! Clattering over the cobbled streets, taking in the historical grandeur of the city, it was truly magical.
This weekend, I am off on an exciting adventure! Iāll be taking a scenic train ride to the charming town of Salzburg, renowned for its stunning beauty and its connection to the legendary Mozart. My journey is bound to be packed with enchanting experiences, so do make sure you check back next week, to hear all about my Salzburg escapades.
I am planning on popping into a few of my favourite stores whilst in Salzburg to add to my collection of the most exquisite tutus and my own brand of āpink paradiseā. Thereās always something wonderful to be found, especially when it comes to those stunning pink tulle creations - just the thing for a fabulous Salzburg waltz.
Until next week, my lovely lot, I hope you are having a wonderfully pink and bubbly week!
Yours in pink tulle,
Emma x
