Pink Tutu Vienna: Post No. 707 – A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel!

Hello my darling darlings! It’s Emma here, and I’m absolutely buzzing to be back in Vienna. This city is just overflowing with charm and glamour – think waltzing emperors, exquisite architecture, and, of course, plenty of opportunities to twirl in my favourite pink tutus! This week, we’re taking a stroll down the majestic Ringstrasse, dipping into the heart of Viennese history, and savouring a truly delectable wiener schnitzel or two (don’t worry, I’ll keep you updated on the tutu-friendly outfits for all of this!).

This is the seventh in my Vienna blog series - every week I get so excited about seeing what this magnificent city has in store for me. Remember my very first post, all about how my heart went "flutter" when I saw the Opera House for the first time? It seems like forever ago. And now, look at me - my confidence is blooming, I've tried the famous coffee and pastries, and have even found the most amazing boutique shop for tulle. It's a bit overwhelming with all these new experiences! So grab a cuppa (perhaps a delicious Vienna Melange, for those playing along at home) and snuggle in. I promise a delicious read!

Wednesday, 19th November - Whirlwind Waltz

After a wonderful train journey - so relaxing, you can really feel the train rocking as it follows the contours of the landscape - I arrived back in the capital, Vienna. And as I strolled through the beautiful station with my trusty pink tutu rucksack in tow (pink tulle for everyone, you know!), a real sense of homeliness and warmth settled upon me. The Austrians, in all their friendly charm, truly know how to make a girl feel welcome!

Dancing through history

First things first, a quick hop to the Kunsthistorisches Museum, just opposite the fabulous State Opera. It’s been a long time since I indulged in a bit of culture, so what better than some breathtaking artwork from the likes of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo. My trusty tutu bag made a fabulous companion!

A little-known fact for you fashionista ballet lovers: the waltz (that iconic Viennese dance) got its groove on right around the time the tutu was becoming a sensation for ballerina’s around Europe! Isn't it incredible? These dances, these styles, they just flow together in this wonderful tapestry of time, a truly amazing thing. The waltz in particular holds such history, and to see a stunning 19th century ballerina in one of those magnificent pouffe tutus, with the waltz circling around her, it’s truly magical. You can feel the spirit of the waltz in the air - its gentle swaying, its rhythmic pulse - a sensation I had to share with my Instagram followers!

Shopping sprees and couture elegance

Speaking of spirit - or perhaps shopping sprees? A tutu-tastic adventure in Vienna must include a shopping escapade or two. And you know me, always on the lookout for the perfect shade of pink to complete my looks! There’s just something about finding the right tutu for a ballet performance or an evening out in this magnificent city! This time, I found myself captivated by the stunning couture collections at the fashion houses on the Graben, so naturally, I had to stop by a few of the chic boutiques for a browse. And of course, some Instagram pics to record it all.

Let's talk about food... and tutu outfits

What is a visit to Vienna without savouring a bit of local cuisine? It’s a must for anyone exploring this delectable city! Now, as you all know, my wardrobe isn’t exactly full of dainty, delicate pieces, which can be tricky when trying to choose outfits for delicious evenings in this city’s charming restaurants! My fashion secret? Tulle overlays. It’s so simple and oh-so-versatile. Over a casual, simple frock, it gives you that dramatic air for a fine dining experience in the old town, or, with a sleek jumpsuit for dancing the night away at one of the Viennese opera ballrooms.

Speaking of ballrooms… there is no bigger treat in Vienna than watching a traditional ball at one of these grand locations. From the magnificent ballroom at the Hofburg Palace to the lavish Vienna Opera House – there’s an atmosphere that is truly unique to this enchanting city.

Sharing the Tutu-Love

Of course, you already know, it’s all about spreading the tutu-love! Vienna, with its elegance and charm, is the perfect place to share that special pink sparkle with the world! Today, I was fortunate enough to chat with a local dance teacher in the magnificent Stadtpark. Now, that's the thing about this city - everything is beautifully crafted! We discussed everything - the ballet history of Vienna, which is fascinating; all about tutus, from the pouffe ones in the 19th century, to the revolutionary creations in modern dance! So watch this space - we might just be seeing some special Viennese-themed tutu content on www.pink-tutu.com in the coming months!

Onwards to my next tutu-filled adventure!

So there you have it! A whirlwind tour of my last few days here in Vienna. And as I sign off for this week, the sun is just setting, casting its golden light across the beautiful cityscape – I feel the romance of Vienna in my heart, swirling with a hint of Pink Tutu Magic! And my darlings, let's face it, there's just something about a waltz with a sprinkle of pink tutu that is utterly captivating, a touch of magic and joy, right?

See you next Wednesday,

Emma xx
