Dearest Pink Tutu Fans!
Greetings from Vienna! The city is truly breathtaking, just as I imagined from the films and postcards, filled with opulent architecture and a charming, elegant atmosphere. I arrived last week, feeling a touch of pre-show nerves, but Vienna always has this effect on me - it's the perfect setting for a Pink Tutu adventure!
This week's blog is brimming with all things Viennese! Imagine the delight - not only are there amazing ballet performances taking place at the beautiful Staatsoper, but the city itself has a history deeply entwined with ballet. We're talking waltzing princes and tutus that graced the courts of emperors! I mean, it doesn't get much more magical than that, does it?
So grab a cuppa and settle in - you won't want to miss a single twirl of this fabulous journey.
Travel Time!
After my delightful (and rather glamorous!) performances in Derbyshire, I decided to trade my trusty motorbike for the romantic journey of the Orient Express. The train itself is a time machine - a blend of historical charm and luxury. And as usual, my pink tutu found its way into the scenery - think of a symphony of pink amidst velvet cushions, crystal glasses, and elegant ladies with feather boas! It was simply a dream. I was even asked to teach the carriage some simple ballet moves during our stop in Prague!
The Ballet Begins!
The moment I arrived in Vienna, my ballet senses were on high alert. This week at the Staatsoper, the stars are aligned perfectly! I've secured front row seats for their exquisite rendition of Swan Lake, and trust me, dear readers, it's more than just a ballet - it's an experience. Every feather on the tutus is hand-stitched, the sets are magnificent, and the choreography is like liquid gold poured onto the stage. The dancers' grace is so ethereal, you feel you could be whisked away on a magical current right into the heart of the music.
Pink Tutu Vienna: Shopping Spree!
Of course, I wouldn't be me if I didn't take some time to explore the boutiques! Vienna, much like London, is a shopping paradise. I must confess I picked up a particularly gorgeous lilac tutu, one so finely detailed with feathers, you'd swear a flock of swallows built it with their delicate wings. I plan on showcasing it during the upcoming performances, and I am so excited to share the excitement of seeing it on stage!
A Moment of Ballet History
While exploring Vienna's historic streets, I found myself captivated by the opulent Palais Liechtenstein. It was here that ballet graced the Austrian court back in the 16th century. They even have a beautiful ballroom! I imagined princesses, powdered wigs, and graceful leaps amidst the glittering chandeliers! Oh, to have witnessed those performances. It almost makes me wish I could invent a time machine and transport my trusty pink tutu back to that golden age of dance!
The Parisian Flair of Vienna
I have to mention - one of my favourite finds in Vienna was a little bakery near the Opera House. Imagine, rows of decadent Viennese pastries all encased in glass and delicately painted with a delicate pink glaze! Talk about a ballerina's dream! The bakery is the perfect spot to grab a delicious breakfast before the day's activities, or a sweet treat after a show! The aromas alone are heavenly - enough to entice even the most strict ballerinas!
A Pink Tutu View from the Top!
Vienna truly embraces the waltz, and to immerse myself fully in this romantic tradition, I decided to embark on a horse-drawn carriage ride! A leisurely journey around the Ringstraße filled with breathtaking architecture, from the grand Opera House to the MuseumsQuartier. What better way to capture the soul of this city than a graceful ride on a horse and carriage? And naturally, I took the opportunity to share a graceful curtsy with each horse I encountered! Vienna truly makes even a simple walk down the street feel like a romantic ballet!
A Special Farewell
As the day draws to a close, I can't help but reflect on the sheer magic that is Vienna. It is truly a city built on romance and artistry, and what a perfect setting for a Pink Tutu girl!
This week's post is only a glimpse into this delightful city, but if you're yearning to get your tutu on, Vienna should definitely be on your to-do list! Don't forget to tune in next Wednesday for a grand tour of the magnificent Staatsoper itself! And, until then, remember - life is best lived in a pink tutu, a twirling, shimmering delight.
Lots of love and twirls,
