Pink Tutu Vienna - Post No. 738 - 24th June 2009

Hello darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! This week, I’m whisking you away to the magnificent city of Vienna, where I’ve been frolicking amongst the imperial grandeur and delicious pastries, all while rocking my favourite pink tutu, of course!

My trip to Vienna began with a leisurely train journey from Derbyshire, a truly lovely way to travel. I always feel so serene gazing out of the window as the countryside rolls past, letting my mind wander to the adventures that await. This time, however, I couldn’t help but daydream about Vienna's magnificent palaces and gardens, imagining myself twirling amongst the rose bushes in my most magnificent tutu, a true vision of ballet grace and Parisian chic!

Vienna: Where Ballet Meets Fashion

Upon arriving in Vienna, I couldn’t wait to explore the city's legendary ballet scene. I’ve always been captivated by the elegance and beauty of ballet, its history deeply intertwined with the history of tutus, which themselves have evolved from practical clothing into fashion statements. And Vienna, oh, it's a city steeped in both!

First stop, the Vienna State Opera, where I marvelled at its neo-Renaissance grandeur. Even the exterior, with its elaborate facade, feels like a costume straight out of a fairytale, perfectly suited for my pink tutu! Inside, I was utterly captivated by the stunning chandeliers and plush velvet seating – I felt like I had stepped right into a ballet dream.

But my adventures weren't just about history. I had to experience the energy of a live ballet performance! That evening, I saw the Vienna State Ballet's rendition of Giselle, a truly captivating production. From the opening scene with its haunting ethereal beauty to the climactic final act, I was spellbound by the grace, passion, and precision of the dancers. It was like watching a dream unfold right before my eyes, and it had me yearning to spin around in my pink tutu on that very stage!

Fashion & Ballet: My Twin Loves

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without some serious fashion indulgence. I absolutely adore the city's fashion scene. You know how much I love the art of creating a fabulously fun look with my pink tutus, and Vienna offers so much inspiration! The beautiful boutiques lining the city streets are a paradise for a pink tutu lover like myself. From intricate lace detailing to exquisite craftsmanship, I was overwhelmed with excitement. And the fabrics! Oh, the fabrics! So luxurious, so inspiring! It's no wonder Vienna was a breeding ground for ballet costumes and fashion designs – you can feel the artistry in every shop!

But beyond the shops, the whole city itself felt like a runway, with locals strolling around in stylish outfits, their elegance seamlessly blending with the grandeur of Vienna's architecture. And it gave me even more ideas for tutu pairings!

My Pink Tutu Finds in Vienna

Speaking of my pink tutus, I couldn’t leave Vienna without a few new additions to my collection. The city’s abundance of vintage shops was an absolute treasure trove, and I found the most divine, light pink tulle skirt with delicate lace accents – perfect for my afternoon strolls through the city gardens. I also found a gorgeous pair of vintage pink ballet slippers, with bows so big they could rival the ones on a fairytale princess!

My newest favourite pink tutu combo is a blush pink tulle tutu paired with a crisp white blouse, a chic straw hat and my newly acquired pink ballet slippers. It’s the perfect look for sipping coffee at a sidewalk cafe and watching the world go by – in Vienna, of course!

Horse-Drawn Carriages & Dreams of the Ballet

To truly experience Vienna’s elegance, I simply had to take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. Imagine the fairytale setting – a sunny afternoon, the rhythmic clip-clop of horses’ hooves on cobblestones, the beautiful scenery of Vienna’s imperial squares. And me, gliding along in my most dazzling pink tutu!

The experience was truly magical, and it sparked a newfound appreciation for the elegance of ballet that I just had to share. I sat back and envisioned myself dancing through the streets of Vienna in a breathtaking ballet performance, twirling among the fountains and grand architecture, my pink tutu shimmering in the sun, a symbol of grace, beauty, and the pure joy of movement.

But my ballet-filled adventures don’t end there! In the spirit of inspiring everyone to embrace their inner ballerina, I have a special challenge for all of you. Yes, I’m talking about my very own Vienna Tutu Challenge!
