Post #743: Vienna Calling! A Waltz of Pink and Tutues

Hello my dearest Pink Tutu Posse! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another post from yours truly, Emma, live and in colour from beautiful Vienna, Austria!

Now, I'm not one to normally let my wanderlust take over so much that I go weeks without a post (especially in the magical month of July!), but Vienna's got me absolutely twirling with excitement! From the cobbled streets to the grand palaces, it feels like a scene straight out of a ballet. Seriously, darling, Vienna is practically begging for a pink tutu, or maybe a few hundred!

Now, before I launch into the pinktastic wonders of this city, a quick update from Derbyshire: I just had the most glorious performance at the Bakewell Ballet Festival last weekend. We were dancing to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, which was just utterly beautiful. My tutu for the performance was the perfect blend of swan-white and delicate pale pink, of course. It even had a tiny crown of little pink feathers at the top. I can't tell you how much I loved twirling in it, feeling all swan-like and graceful!

Speaking of graceful, how amazing are Vienna’s horse-drawn carriages?! Honestly, they just feel like they've come straight from a storybook. I have to confess, darling, it was absolutely magical to find myself swept away by their charm last night, especially while I was enjoying my usual ballet research. My research took me to the Vienna State Opera for an enchanting evening of ballet history and a spectacular performance of Giselle. Now, I know Giselle's story has been around since the 19th century, but honestly, it's as beautiful as ever. It's full of dramatic dancing, lovely romantic costumes (not all pink, but let's face it, I always see a touch of pink in everything), and so much romanticism - a little bit of 'ooh-la-la' if you will.

Now, I can't let the 'ooh-la-la' of Vienna overshadow the absolute dream I experienced today! It was a delightful morning shopping for my most essential need: more tutus! It's a tricky task you see, finding the perfect pink tutu. There's an art to it! I don’t just walk into any store; I seek out those unique hidden gems that offer truly exquisite tutus that feel just right. It has to have that ‘Emma’ touch, a perfect pink that sings, darling. But let me tell you, the boutiques I've discovered in Vienna? I was utterly spoilt for choice! So many different styles and shades of pink – peach, baby pink, and even a gorgeous shocking pink, although, personally, I'm a sucker for soft pastel shades myself!

And for a proper Austrian experience, I spent the rest of the day hopping on and off trams - not just any trams though, darling! These beauties were vintage ones, which made me think of that magical Parisian tramway I was riding a few weeks ago ( I have to tell you about that in another blog!) - oh so charming! They’re perfect for getting a glimpse of all the gorgeous buildings, parks, and bustling markets that make Vienna so delightful. Every turn seems to lead to a new masterpiece of art deco, baroque, or classical architecture. And speaking of buildings, how grand are these palaces? I feel like I’m stepping back into history. Vienna truly does feel like a storybook world. I spent this afternoon simply admiring the buildings and soaking up the romantic atmosphere - a truly elegant backdrop to the endless 'Ooh la la' in the air, you know?

Before I finish up for today, a little tip for my darling readers - you can't visit Vienna without sampling a Sachertorte. This cake is an absolute treat for any dessert-loving ballerina! It’s incredibly delicious, with rich, dark chocolate cake and a hint of apricot jam. Of course, I added my signature touch: a dash of pink frosting, simply irresistible!

Well, darlings, until next week when I post another Vienna adventure on pink-tutu.com - remember, life is a beautiful dance, so don’t be afraid to twirl in a pink tutu and let your inner ballerina shine!

Much Love and Tutus,

Emma
