Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #747 - Whirlwind Wednesday in the Waltz Capital

Hello my gorgeous tutu-loving lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu Vienna! 🩰✨ This week I'm coming to you straight from the heart of Austria, the majestic city of Vienna. As always, my trusty pink tutu is in tow, twirling its way through the cobbled streets and majestic squares.

Oh Vienna, how I love you! You're the very embodiment of waltzing, romance, and all things elegant. Just the scent of the air - a delicious blend of coffee and pastries - fills me with joy. The architecture here is pure poetry, and I feel like I've stepped into a fairytale. Even the street musicians add a touch of magic to the atmosphere. I simply can't help but twirl in delight!

But let's get to the real reason I'm here. You see, Vienna holds a very special place in my heart because it's a city brimming with ballet history! The Vienna State Opera, one of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, is home to the Vienna State Ballet. It’s said that Johann Strauss, the legendary waltz king, was a regular in the royal boxes during the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth! It’s no wonder then that this city is such a haven for dancers like me.

This week's whirlwind schedule involved a glorious performance at the Volksoper Vienna, followed by a scrumptious Viennese feast at a quaint, candlelit café. The air hummed with the intoxicating aroma of Sachertorte, and I couldn't resist a generous slice - all in the name of cultural immersion, of course!

My adventures in Vienna weren't limited to just performances, though. Oh no, this city has so much more to offer. I spent an afternoon in the exquisite Schönbrunn Palace, admiring the elegant interiors and marveling at the history woven within the walls. Empress Sisi's elegant dresses are on display, a vibrant splash of colour against the opulent gold and white.

After my palace visit, I indulged in some serious fashion therapy in the heart of the city. Let me tell you, Vienna knows its style! I found a charming little shop bursting with vintage delights and another brimming with the most exquisite silk scarves. I couldn't resist buying a new pink scarf to add to my collection, and yes, you guessed it, it's going to be the perfect accessory to my next pink tutu performance!

On Saturday, I discovered the absolute best vintage shop in the city! They had a vintage ballet tutu - oh my goodness! I had to snap it up immediately. It’s a pale lilac with delicate lace detailing. Imagine - a ballet class with a touch of vintage flair! 🩰

Speaking of ballet, I couldn't leave Vienna without a proper ballet class. The studios here are full of life and passion, and I learned some new moves from an incredibly talented instructor. She had the most elegant extensions I'd ever seen, and I feel so inspired by her! The best part is that even with my English-accented "oui-oui"s, she had a twinkle in her eye and seemed to appreciate my love of ballet - even in my trusty pink tutu, which I must admit, turned a few heads!

So, what's a girl to do after a long day of ballet, fashion, and delicious food? You guessed it - horse-drawn carriage ride, of course! Vienna is so romantic and idyllic. Sitting in a carriage while the city passes by is like a scene out of a movie. Just try not to let out a joyous little "Oh my gosh, this is just too beautiful!" You’ll never truly know Vienna without it!

Of course, my whirlwind visit wouldn’t be complete without indulging in the Viennese pastries that make this city famous. You simply cannot go to Vienna without enjoying the best pastry in the world – Apple Strudel! It’s melt-in-your-mouth perfection. A must-try for every tutu-loving foodie out there!

Vienna, you have stolen my heart! You're a city where ballet thrives, fashion flourishes, and beauty reigns supreme. Until next Wednesday, I leave you with this - always remember to embrace the joy of twirling, spread your own unique style, and don't be afraid to wear pink! 💖

Love, Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
