Vienna, Waltz of Wonder: Post #766

Hello my lovely tutu-wearing friends! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another installment of my Vienna adventures! This week has been a whirlwind of waltzes, strudels, and a whole lot of pink, so buckle up!

First things first: a HUGE thank you to all of you for your amazing response to my last post about the gorgeous tutu collection at the Vienna State Opera! Your comments made me feel like I was twirling amongst you all in the opulent theatre!

Speaking of opulent, Vienna itself feels like one giant stage set. I just love how the city combines its elegant history with its vibrant, modern spirit. Today, I'm going to take you on a little tour of some of my favourite discoveries.

A Waltz with History:

This morning, I indulged in a spot of ballet history. As a tutu aficionado, you can't visit Vienna without venturing to the Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper). Honestly, it's as awe-inspiring in real life as it is in pictures. From the grand staircase to the breathtakingly beautiful auditorium, it's simply exquisite. I even got to see a quick rehearsal of La Bohème - the costumes were absolutely stunning, with so many beautiful shades of pink! It got me thinking about how ballet costumes have evolved through history. Perhaps a future blog post on the subject?

Fashion, Food and a Fuchsia Flamingo:

Vienna is a haven for the shopaholic ballerina! After my opera dose, I ventured into the city centre and got totally lost in the vibrant shopping streets. You won't believe this, but I found a shop called "Pink Flamingo" (it was fate, right?) with the most glorious array of tutus I've ever seen. They had everything from sparkly tutus with neon pink sequins to romantic tulle skirts perfect for a summer waltz. Naturally, I walked out with a couple of new additions to my tutu collection! (The pink sequined one was just too irresistible!).

And you can't forget the food! Today's treat was a delightful, creamy Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel). It was warm, comforting, and absolutely perfect after a morning of ballet inspiration. Let's just say my waistline might be paying the price, but my tastebuds are certainly celebrating!

Trams, Trains, and Trotters:

Speaking of travelling, I absolutely adore how easy it is to get around Vienna. I've been making good use of the city's efficient tram system, which has me feeling like I'm gliding through the streets in a beautiful carriage! One morning I even ventured out on a Fiaker ride, a traditional Viennese horse-drawn carriage. The clip-clop of the horses' hooves, the smell of leather, and the cobblestones under my feet truly felt like I'd been transported back in time. It's a little extravagant for a daily commute, but definitely a perfect way to soak up the Viennese atmosphere!

Sharing the Pink Love:

Before I wrap up this post, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all of you joining me on this journey. Seeing all your lovely comments and sharing your own tutu stories keeps my spirits up and makes my adventures feel like we're experiencing them together. It really does feel like a little ballet family!

This weekend, I'm hoping to catch a performance of Giselle at the Vienna State Ballet. Can you believe it? This classic romantic ballet is the one that got me completely hooked on this wonderful world of dancing tutus!

Until next Wednesday, remember to keep twirling and share the pink love!

Love,

Emma xx

(PS: If you're a fellow tutu-lover, let me know in the comments! I'm always on the lookout for new ballet-related inspiration.)
