Pink Tutu Vienna - Post 786: Waltz in Vienna!

Hello darlings! 🩰

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna post! I'm back with all the fabulous frocks and fabulous fun from my adventures in the beautiful city of Vienna.

This week has been absolutely enchanting. My little pink tutu and I have been twirling our way through the Austrian capital, soaking up the vibrant culture, stunning architecture, and of course, the delightful world of ballet!

Ballet Bonanza

I kicked off the week with a breathtaking performance by the Vienna State Opera. Their rendition of Swan Lake was truly magical, a cascade of emotions set to the most glorious music. The dancers, their movements so graceful and precise, they made even the most mundane movements appear captivating! 🦢 After the show, I headed straight to my favourite vintage clothing store, La Mode Élégant, where I found the most gorgeous, hand-painted silk scarf with a delicate swan motif.

Now, my lovely readers, you know I can't resist a good ballet class, especially when I'm surrounded by the majestic historical charm of Vienna. This time, I treated myself to a class at the prestigious Vienna State Ballet Academy. Talk about inspiring! The studios are like stepping back in time, with stunning vaulted ceilings and parquet floors that creak softly underfoot. It’s the perfect place to practice those graceful pliés and elegant arabesques. 🩰

But my love for ballet goes beyond just performances and classes. This week, I even took a detour into Vienna’s ballet history at the Hofburg Palace, the magnificent imperial residence. Did you know that Empress Maria Theresa was a huge fan of ballet? It was fascinating to discover the connection between royal patronage and the evolution of dance in this city.

And you know what? My exploration of Viennese ballet wasn’t limited to the palaces and grand theatres. The Schnitzelgasse market was abuzz with locals showcasing their exquisite handcrafted tutus – everything from whimsical feathered numbers to sophisticated contemporary styles! Of course, I had to purchase a new one. Pink, naturally!

Fashion Fling & A Viennese Waltz

Of course, Vienna is not just about ballet! It's a city overflowing with stunning architecture, a sophisticated fashion scene, and a romantic ambiance that's impossible to resist.

My love for vintage clothes found me venturing into Vienna's elegant vintage boutiques, where I unearthed a stunning collection of powder-blue silk dresses perfect for waltzing through the cobbled streets. For me, every day is an opportunity to experiment with different looks, blending modern trends with timeless classics, with a dash of pink, of course! 💕

I indulged in a delightful afternoon at one of the famous Viennese cafes. With the fragrant aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air and the soft strum of a grand piano playing in the background, I savored the moment, dreaming of waltzing under the chandelier in a beautiful, blush-pink dress.

Speaking of waltzing, this week I learned the waltz! 💃 I’m certainly not as elegant as a ballerina yet, but oh, the fun! It was an absolutely enchanting experience, gliding across the ballroom floor under a sparkling chandelier. I can imagine a whole evening of whirling, giggling and laughing in a beautiful pink tutu - it’s pure magic!

Travel Treats & Pink Tutu Thoughts

Traveling to Vienna by train was, as always, a pure delight. I've recently discovered the charm of rail travel and with my lovely, pink, tulle suitcase by my side, it’s like a floating tea party! I even got to indulge in my love of horses! 🐎 I joined a private riding tour and spent the afternoon cantering through the beautiful rolling hills on the outskirts of Vienna. The fresh air, the sun on my face, and the wind in my hair - a truly magical experience.

You know I have to share my top 5 things I’ve loved about Vienna this week!

  1. The pastries! They’re literally life-changing, fluffy, delicious and perfect with coffee.
  2. The cafes! They’re always full of interesting people, a great place to watch the world go by and jot down my blog posts.
  3. The architecture! It's absolutely breathtaking! I find myself in awe every time I step out of my little hotel, so many magnificent buildings.
  4. The friendliness of the locals! Even my questionable attempts at German are greeted with smiles and helpful gestures.
  5. The beauty of ballet in this city! Every single class and performance leaves me in awe of the elegance, precision and joy that comes with this beautiful art form.

So there you have it, my darlings! My week in Vienna has been an absolute dream! I hope this peek into my life has brought you a little bit of pink, sparkle, and Viennese charm. Remember, life is all about embracing the little joys, like the twirl of a pink tutu or the magic of a well-timed pirouette. 🩰

Keep your tutus close and your hearts full! 💕

Until next week, my lovelies,

Emma xxx

P.S If you’re ever in Vienna and need a dance partner for a waltz (or a shopping buddy!), you know where to find me. I’m usually twirling through the streets in my pink tutu or indulging in a Viennese pastry, always with a smile on my face and a passion for sharing my love for all things beautiful and pink!
