Pink Tutu Vienna: Blog Post #792 - A Whirlwind Waltz Through Vienna
Hello my darling tutus! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another adventure with your favourite pink-clad ballerina, Emma! I'm writing to you from the enchanting city of Vienna, Austria, a city so full of music, art and culture, I'm practically pirouette-ing in excitement just thinking about it.
This week's post is a little special, dear friends, as it marks my seventh-hundred-and-ninety-second blog post, and it's been quite the journey getting here, haven't it? Remember those early posts, all about the ballet classes in Derbyshire? How much fun we had learning to plié, jeté and tour en l'air? How the colour pink took over my world? I’ve come such a long way!
This journey wouldn't have been possible without the beautiful tutus that I wear, of course, they are more than just clothes, they’re like wings allowing me to soar around the world! I fund my travels through ballet performances – I’m rather good at it you know – but there’s a part of me that yearns for all of you to join me. I know the colour pink might not be for everyone, and tutus can be a little intimidating for the uninitiated, but they are really about expressing yourself, about feeling magical and twirling into joy!
A Viennese Waltz of Wonder
Now, back to Vienna, darling! Today's adventure started with a glorious horse-drawn carriage ride. I couldn't resist donning my newest tulle creation, a pale pink tutu with hand-sewn lace detailing – you know me, all about those exquisite details – and as we clattered over the cobbled streets, I couldn't help but imagine myself as a fairytale princess, a delicate little flower dancing amidst a vibrant cityscape.
Vienna, as it turns out, is the perfect blend of historic grandeur and modern chic. Every street corner seemed to whisper stories of waltzing royalty, soaring symphonies, and legendary artists. Imagine my excitement when I found myself wandering through the opulent halls of the Hofburg Palace. There are simply breathtaking treasures, and the opulent gold-plated ceilings made my tutu feel right at home. I took several snaps for the ‘gram, obviously, but for a real, honest to goodness blogger experience, you just have to come see it for yourself!
A Taste of Vienna’s Artistic Charm
In the afternoon, I made my way to the Albertina Museum, home to an impressive collection of art, drawings and photographs. I was drawn to the magnificent “Spanish Riding School,” a historical landmark where they still hold majestic equestrian performances. Just watching the horses move, so elegant and powerful, made my heart soar, the horses here really are works of art themselves.
This was followed by a delicious evening of traditional Viennese cuisine. My heart, however, belonged to the city’s famed opera, the Vienna State Opera, the place that houses legendary masterpieces. You can't truly grasp the power of the Viennese musical heritage unless you experience it first hand, trust me! My eyes were wide with wonder watching an operatic performance of "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss – a dazzling mix of costumes, incredible vocals, and a plot full of playful twists! The costumes, especially, were incredible; all dramatic and ornate. They really transported me to another era.
Vienna is, truly, a city of artistic dreams! I’ve been drawn to its fascinating blend of history, tradition and elegance. As I write this blog post from my cosy Viennese cafe, the soft glow of twilight illuminating the street outside, I find myself dreaming of all the wonderful tutus I’ll create to commemorate my time here! And yes, you are all welcome to join my whirlwind of Viennese bliss.
Until next time, darling tutus, keep twirling and shining!
With love and lace, Emma xx
P.S: This Wednesday, July 7th, I have a surprise ballet performance in Vienna. Can you guess what I'm dancing? Come join the fun! It's all in the name of spreading the pink-tutu love, remember? You're never too old, or too young, to dance. I truly believe that everyone deserves to experience the joy of twirling in a tutu. Don’t be shy! Come say hello and twirl with me! xx
