Vienna Waltz in a Pink Tutu - Post #810

Wednesday 10th November 2010

Guten Morgen, lovelies!

It's Wednesday which means a fresh post for you on my www.pink-tutu.com website and as always, Iā€™m whirling my way into your lives straight from Vienna! Oh, the joy, the glamour! This city is a ballet dancer's dream, and this week, I'm dancing amongst the historical charm of Austria!

Now, darling, you all know I adore pink. Pink everything! And this week Iā€™m wearing a gorgeous hot pink tutu with ruffles, absolutely perfect for twirling under the Vienna Opera Houseā€™s ornate chandeliers. Oh, I could get lost in this theatre's grandness for hours, simply by taking in the beauty! Did I tell you, the chandeliers are HUGE and glittering? Like the starriest night sky you could imagine!

But, speaking of stars, my heart flutters whenever I talk about the ballet shows here! Vienna has a fantastic ballet history, going back centuries, and the talent here is phenomenal!

Oh! My darlings, thereā€™s been so much happening this week! Let me tell you!

Firstly, let's talk fashion, because this is a city that knows how to do it! I've been shopping up a storm, finding the most gorgeous vintage frocks in the Vienna Naschmarkt, imagine a whole market just bursting with clothing gems, and some of them so perfect for adding a dash of chic to my ballerina style! I am sure you can imagine the tutu shopping too, every shade imaginable. Just like the ice cream parlour! It was like being in a fairytale, surrounded by pink and purple satin.

And speaking of ice cream, the cafes in Vienna are delightful, offering little tables outside where you can simply sit and watch the world go by! And the Viennese pastries, they are my weakness!

But itā€™s not all about the fabulous fashion and treats, oh no! Itā€™s all about the performances too, darling! You'd never guess, but I had the honour of being backstage at the Vienna State Opera, oh, just you wait, a photo-filled post about that will follow later this week. The excitement! Imagine the smell of grease paint, the flurry of movement backstage, and the hushed anticipation before a performance, and you are there.

Last night I actually had the chance to catch a delightful ballet performance of ā€œGiselleā€. Itā€™s hard to describe, the passion and movement on stage was exquisite and there was even a little romance which had everyone swooning! Of course, I gave myself a little twirl at the interval, wearing a shimmering blush pink tutu - always have to add a bit of personal flair, donā€™t I?! I may even take some ballet classes here, to feel the energy of the dancing on the stage!

Of course, this cityā€™s charm wouldn't be complete without experiencing Vienna by horse-drawn carriage, I donā€™t think Iā€™ll ever tire of the charm! It was absolutely magical! Feeling the gentle clip-clop of the hooves as we rode along the cobblestone streets and past magnificent palaces, it truly feels like you've stepped back in time, I even got some delightful photographs for the gram, so look out for those! I looked absolutely splendid, of course, wearing a soft pink tutu and a hat with an extravagant feather boa! My travels always include my signature style. I think I managed to brighten up a grey November day, and who knows, maybe even encourage a few locals to rock their own pink tutus!

Vienna is definitely a city of romance, darling, and not just romantic evenings spent in coffee shops, although those ARE heavenly. This is the perfect city to share with that special someone. The feeling of falling in love under the golden chandeliers at the opera, with the sound of violins soaring around us, is just divine. I'm already daydreaming about who to share this beautiful city with in the futureā€¦ maybe someone to match my passion for ballet! Oh my!

But before my head goes spinning with such romantic thoughts, itā€™s time for another Viennese delicacy. I've spotted a little cafe with the most gorgeous pink macarons. Whatā€™s a ballet-loving girl to do?! Of course, I'll indulge, then share photos and reviews with you all!

Don't forget, my darling lovelies, you can follow my adventures on pink-tutu.com every Wednesday. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled, I might even have a little treat for you in a week or so, maybe even some free tutus, who knows? I hope to see you back here soon!

Sending you all my love and twirls,

Emma

XOXO
