Post 815: Vienna Waltz and a Pink Tutu Tango

Wednesday 15th December 2010

Guten Morgen, my darlings! Itā€™s Emma here, reporting live from Vienna, Austria, a city so beautiful it makes my little heart skip a beat, much like a perfectly timed fouettĆ©.

Youā€™re probably thinking, ā€œEmma, why Vienna?ā€ Well, let me tell you, Vienna is simply bursting with ballet history and a culture that makes my toes tap with joy! Just the other day, I took a little waltz through the streets, my pink tutu swirling around my ankles, and everyone stopped to watch. And can you believe it, the waltz was actually invented in Vienna back in the 18th century!

Anyway, Iā€™ve just had a smashing time watching ā€œGiselleā€ at the Vienna State Opera, one of the most magnificent venues I've ever been to. The detail, the grandeur, and of course, the stunning ballet.

I did my usual pre-performance reconnaissance mission at the Vienna Opera House shops, which were utterly divine! There I was, surrounded by gorgeous ballerina accessories ā€“ think tutu bags, silk scarves with pointe shoes and everything you can imagine in that colour that sends my heart a-flutter: pink. Naturally, I emerged victorious, clutching a delicate tulle bag that had the image of a swan in the centre ā€“ fitting, I thought, considering I was going to see a ballet. I might just pop it on my Etsy shop later today!

Of course, my favourite part of the trip, so far, was my foray into the world of Viennese fashion. Let me tell you, these folks have an eye for elegance. I stumbled upon this amazing vintage shop where I unearthed a stunning lilac tulle skirt, just perfect for a Parisian cafƩ rendezvous. Naturally, I paired it with my signature pink tutu. You just can't go wrong with a touch of pink, darling!

As for today, Iā€™m taking a ballet class at one of Vienna's oldest ballet schools. I'm feeling quite inspired. I hope I can emulate the grace and strength of the students there! Later, I'll be hitting the charming coffee shops, Viennaā€™s version of a tea room. Nothing beats a nice cup of hot chocolate and a slice of sachertorte in a comfy armchair while catching up on my latest book.

Speaking of the sachertorte, the story of the famous cake is pretty darn fascinating, just like the history of the tutu! The famous Austrian confectionery, the Sachertorte, was invented by a young Viennese pastry chef in the early 19th century. So, you can say, I'm exploring not only the world of dance but also the culinary wonders of Vienna. Itā€™s an absolute dream come true!

Oh! And if youā€™re ever planning to visit Vienna, remember, you have to see Schƶnbrunn Palace. Just a few weeks ago, there was a special exhibit dedicated to Empress Elisabeth. Now, the Queen of Hungary and Emperor Franz Joseph were known for their fondness of ballet, with Franz Joseph even opening a school dedicated to the art form! You've got to take your time exploring these historical gems; they're like little stepping stones into the past.

As always, Iā€™m hoping to share all these gorgeous experiences with you, dear readers! Whether you're an avid ballerina yourself, a ballet enthusiast, or just enjoy the simple pleasure of twirling in a pink tutu, I hope my stories inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and explore the world, one elegant pirouette at a time!

Don't forget to visit the website at www.pink-tutu.com and keep an eye out for my upcoming performance announcements!

Sending you all my love and lots of twirls!

Yours truly,

Emma x
