Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #829 - Ballet Bliss in the City of Waltz!
Wednesday, 23rd March 2011
Hello darlings! I'm back in Vienna, and oh, what a treat this city is! It's like a fairytale come to life, all cobbled streets, grand palaces and a scent of freshly baked strudel in the air. You know I simply adore history and the Viennese have got it in spades! This time around, I'm staying in a sweet little B&B just a stone's throw from the Schönbrunn Palace - imagine, where Mozart once played! I'm totally in love with the grandeur of the city and the fabulous shopping. The boutiques are filled with such exquisite finds, especially those vintage shops that are teeming with beautiful lace, silks and, naturally, the most exquisite vintage tutus! (I may have indulged just a little bit!)
Speaking of tutus, Vienna is just dripping with ballet history! You can almost feel the echoes of Strauss waltzes swirling in the air, and the ghosts of legendary dancers pirouetting through the city's grand squares. The Vienna State Opera is absolutely stunning - I'm dying to see a performance there. It's all so dramatic and romantic, it makes my heart beat a little faster. Imagine, waltzing through a ballroom in a beautiful, swirling tutu, a symphony playing in the background! I simply adore the elegance and romance of the past.
A Little Ballet History Lesson
Vienna has a very special place in my heart because it was here in the 17th century that ballet began to truly flourish, moving beyond its Italian origins to become the elegant art form we know and love today. The Imperial Court at the time absolutely adored it and brought in all the best choreographers from France. I can't help but think of those early dancers, their flowing tutus sparkling beneath the chandeliers, moving with such grace and artistry - it simply fills me with wonder!
Ballet Street Inspiration
I've spent the last few days strolling the charming side streets of the city, soaking in the atmosphere. The sheer beauty of Vienna is so inspiring - it makes you want to twirl, doesn't it? I've been watching all the lovely Viennese ladies, and the elegance and grace in their walks is truly breathtaking. And they love their pink, too! I spotted so many lovely pastel pink outfits that just screamed "Vienna"! This city truly embraces the romantic feminine spirit, just like my dear Pink Tutu community!
Today's Inspiration: The Schönbrunn Palace
Today, I'm going on a guided tour of the glorious Schönbrunn Palace. Imagine, being surrounded by opulent gold-gilded decor and priceless antiques, it truly takes your breath away! The history here is palpable, and I'm picturing all the grand balls and concerts held within these hallowed halls - such beauty, such romance! I think it's only appropriate to dress up for the occasion - maybe a tulle tutu with delicate floral embroidery and a sparkling pink ribbon? Or perhaps a vibrant, rose pink dress with a matching velvet hat - hmm, so many choices!
Vienna for all!
I know some people might think Vienna is all about classical music and fancy museums, but there's so much more to discover here! It's full of vibrant energy, beautiful green spaces and charming cafes - the perfect setting for a ballerina in a pink tutu to explore. This is a city that truly celebrates life, art and culture - it's a place where you can be yourself, dance to the rhythm of your own heart and enjoy the simple joy of a beautiful day. I hope you'll join me in discovering all that Vienna has to offer! Just don't forget your tutu, darling!
Stay tuned for next week's blog - I'll be sharing all my fabulous fashion finds and my review of the most wonderful ballet performance I've seen in a long, long time! Until then, don't forget to spread the pink tutu love! Love, Emma.
