Post #854: Vienna, My Dearest! (Where Even the Horses Wear Tutu-Inspired Hats!)
Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your very own pink tutu-clad travel companion, back from a whirlwind trip to the enchanting city of Vienna, a city that, in true Emma style, simply oozed tutu-esque charm. This week, on www.pink-tutu.com, we're embarking on a journey that's all about grand boulevards, historic ballet halls, and, of course, those fabulous Viennese tutus, oh yes, darling, they certainly know a thing or two about tulle here!
It’s Wednesday, which means a brand-new adventure for us here on PinkTutuVienna! And this week, we're getting extra-excited, because our journey began in the quaint English village of Buxton, Derbyshire, where I’m currently spending time with my darling mum!
A Journey by Train
Let’s travel back in time, shall we? Imagine a steamy Saturday morning at the station, me decked out in my raspberry-pink tutu (of course), my little suitcase packed to the brim with a few fabulous outfits, a handful of my favourite tulle fabric swatches (you never know when you'll need to get your craft on!), and, naturally, a good dose of excitement!
A splendid, red vintage train took me through fields ablaze with yellow sunflowers, then over emerald hills and past charming towns, transporting me to a whole new world of Continental magic!
Viennese Waltz…and Fashion!
Vienna welcomed me with open arms and… well, lots of exquisite tutus! I just had to visit the magnificent Vienna State Opera, the jewel in the city's cultural crown! I felt like I was stepping into a painting! Oh, and did I mention the ballet, darlings? The ballerinas were magnificent, their costumes as splendid as their leaps, but most importantly… those Vienna Opera House tutus… well, they were truly works of art, made of shimmering silks, the colour of twilight… with enough feathers and embellishment to set a whole ballet world on fire. And it certainly ignited mine! I have to return to catch a performance, perhaps next week...
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! Vienna offered far more than graceful ballerinas! I simply had to spend hours exploring the glorious Imperial Palace (with all its grandness, the sheer extravagance reminded me a little of the ballerinas on stage!), strolling through the enchanting gardens and even hopping on a horse-drawn carriage for a magical journey through the streets. It's fascinating to think the horses even sported a bit of tutu-inspiration with their beautiful ornate harnesses… did I mention they were magnificent!
*Fashion Adventures in Vienna: *
Vienna’s fashion scene had a distinct je ne sais quoi! Oh my dear, this was not just any fashion city. This city is about fashion. I fell in love with the exquisite window displays, the bold colours, and the luxurious textures of fabrics – just everything seemed so extravagant and theatrical! * Think *pink, crimson, teal and champagne colours, paired with flowing skirts and wide-brimmed hats - the whole city was a stage waiting for its tutu-clad heroine to take center stage (ahem... Emma!)
Naturally, I had to get into the spirit and try on every colour and fabric that tickled my fancy! And darling, I even discovered a vintage boutique that sold actual vintage tutus from the early 20th century, imagine… and those tulle skirts, in vibrant coral pink – simply dreamy! My bag was bursting with these wonderful treasures! I simply couldn’t help myself! (Though maybe I could've made it a bit lighter for the return train journey, darling... who knew how much tulle a girl could actually fit into a small suitcase...?)
And That Viennese Apple Strudel, Darling…
After a delightful fashion escapade, nothing hit the spot better than a slice of classic Viennese apple strudel… just heavenly! With a cup of creamy Austrian coffee, I was transported back to the grandeur of this beautiful city, reminiscing on every wonderful detail. Oh, and the most gorgeous flower markets! Each flower was vibrant and enchanting, and each colour seemed to match the incredible tutus I’d seen at the ballet – imagine the bouquets, darling, absolutely divine!
Sharing My Vienna Love Story with YOU:
Darling, this is just the beginning of my Viennese story… I've got loads more to tell you – more on the ballet, my visit to the Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens (where I saw the most stunning collection of butterflies… absolutely swirling just like ballerinas in the air), and even a few secret fashion finds in my shopping journal! I'll keep you updated next Wednesday. Until then, I hope this little peek into my journey has given you some travel inspiration – why not start your own little ballet-inspired travel adventures? Maybe a tutu and some floral delights will inspire a trip to a magical destination for YOU. After all, you deserve it!
Don't forget, darlings, spread the pink tutu love! I have a wonderful vision: to see everyone in a pink tutu… and who knows, maybe someday Vienna’s majestic horses will be donning their own pink tutus too… a girl can dream!
Until next time,
Emma
