Vienna Calling! A Pink Tutu Wonderland (Post #855)

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna! It's Wednesday, the day we all get to gather for a little bit of pink and tutus, so grab a cuppa and settle in for my latest adventures from the glorious city of Vienna.

You see, my friends, the life of a ballerina is never boring! From the graceful pirouettes on the stage to the wild, wonderful adventures between shows, life's an exciting ballet, and Vienna has been the perfect setting for my latest chapter.

Now, for those of you who missed it, my last blog saw me flitting through the cobbled streets of Paris, stopping for a little pink cupcake (what else!), and soaking up the magical world of ballet there. It was a whirlwind of romance, pink Parisian style, and just a little touch of Parisian pink! You can check it out on www.pink-tutu.com - it's Post #854.

But Vienna has beckoned! My ballet performance at the Palais Garnier was absolutely divine, my performance was met with a standing ovation (whoop, whoop!), and as usual, I took to the stage in my signature style – a breathtaking pink tutu, adorned with a little delicate detail - a tiny silver Eiffel Tower charm, just a subtle nod to the City of Lights. I adore these little touches of personalisation, they really add a touch of "me" to every costume!

As usual, Vienna is exceeding my expectations! It's absolutely blooming with the essence of graceful artistry and elegance. From the breathtaking Baroque architecture, all those glorious swirls and twirls that so cleverly mirror the moves of ballet, to the rich, royal history that breathes with an enchanting charm. You see, I can't tell you how much I love discovering new ballet and tutu connections all over the world, it's my little secret pleasure, discovering the past through fashion and dance!

This week I've been exploring some truly amazing places! I can't forget the enchanting Schönbrunn Palace, all gilded rooms, twinkling chandeliers and those sweeping gardens! It’s a masterpiece, the perfect place to lose yourself in a fairytale fantasy of a ballet, where princesses twirl under glittering stars and brave knights perform feats of dazzling athleticism. Just think how divine a performance of the Sleeping Beauty would be in such a place, imagine the stunning visuals and the powerful emotions it would evoke.

Speaking of enchanting sights, I simply cannot resist a visit to the world famous Vienna Opera House - oh, what an architectural marvel! From the outside, it is a triumph of neoclassical grandeur, whilst within it holds an unparalleled air of sophistication.

You know I've spent an absolute age shopping for the perfect costume to perform at Vienna Opera House! (This city truly does know how to cater to the ballerina in me) I ended up going with a divine ivory tutu, a touch of pink sparkle in the netting, which is perfect for this venue.

The show, Carmen, was simply captivating. There’s nothing like a vibrant passionate flamenco, to capture your heart, particularly in such a majestic theatre. It inspired me to try some bold flamenco moves myself, I have such a wonderful teacher here in Vienna! You’ll just have to see my upcoming video - it’s coming soon! I've already incorporated my love of flamenco in a little piece I choreographed to the music of Carmen and it’s a perfect, sassy showpiece, full of twirls and playful moves. You can catch it on my YouTube Channel, www.pink-tutu.com / EmmaTutu

However, you simply cannot travel through Vienna and not travel by horse drawn carriage! What a truly luxurious, regal experience. My dear readers, trust me, I made the most of the chance, rocking my favourite pink tutu, (of course), and gliding past those stunning cobbled streets in elegant fashion!

Let’s not forget my beloved travel companion! It simply isn’t a trip to Vienna without a charming train journey. The scenery from the train is nothing short of a work of art, imagine cascading mountains, breathtaking rivers and charming valleys - simply magical! I found the whole trip wonderfully romantic.

And speaking of romance, the ballet company I’m performing with is a real delight! They are simply fantastic. From the dedicated dancers who always inspire me to the kind and enthusiastic company manager - who even surprised me with a special pink tu-tu themed treat from Demel -Vienna’s most exquisite chocolate shop. I must confess it’s the first place I visit when I reach Vienna - every chocolate lover’s paradise!

Today was a particularly busy day, after a morning spent with a dear ballet friend and fashion designer, who has been guiding my pink tutu style. She’s teaching me all about fabric types, colours and a little more on how to craft that signature Emma Tutu.

But then it was off to the city for a fashion showcase! This event was something else – a whole room devoted to fashion inspiration, all swirling colours and unique textiles, the ultimate paradise for a ballerina and fashion fanatic like me. And trust me, my dears, there were some real gems! Some exquisite fabrics in colours ranging from rich velvety reds to eye catching fuchsia’s. It simply gave me a multitude of ideas to bring my own fashion vision to life.

Naturally, my evening was spent with a delicious traditional Wiener Schnitzel. The golden breadcrumb crust, oh so divine! And naturally I couldn't forget to incorporate a touch of pink into my meal – it was perfectly complemented by a glass of pink Austrian wine.

I hope this little glimpse into my life has brought a little bit of pink to your day! Be sure to keep checking back for more of my adventures in this fantastic city.

Much love and sparkly kisses,

Emma
