Post Number 864: Vienna, Austria - Where The Ballet Dreams Are Made Of Pink Tutu! 🩰💕

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another fabulous adventure on Pink-Tutu.com! This week, I've found myself in the heart of Vienna, Austria - a city that truly embodies the spirit of elegance and sophistication. And believe me, I've already spotted some extraordinary tutus here!

Vienna, you see, is where ballet truly took root in my heart. Remember my story of my first ballet class as a wee thing in Derbyshire? Well, Vienna was where it all began, back in the 17th century. Imagine, swirling skirts and pointe shoes dancing under the chandeliers of the Hofburg Palace! It’s like stepping into a fairy tale, just without the evil stepmother and a prince who can't see past a glass slipper!

Now, my Vienna adventures began with a truly magical train journey. I adore travelling by train - it's so civilised! There's nothing quite like settling into a plush carriage, a cuppa in hand, watching the countryside whizz by. It’s just a bit more magical than driving on those motorways and paying for parking and fuel – and so much more civilised! I even struck up a delightful conversation with an old lady who wore the most incredible hat - it had a giant feather plume that nearly grazed the ceiling!

Upon arrival in Vienna, the air itself felt different. A mix of coffee and waltz music - I swear! The aroma was a heady combination of Viennese coffee (which I must have 3 times a day here!), Viennese chocolate (must try the Sachertorte!), and freshly baked bread - Vienna really knows how to satisfy the sweet tooth and stomach! I think it's the charm of Vienna, the air itself carries a sweet tune! I could practically see swirling tutu skirts and a twinkle in the air.

My first order of business was to seek out a truly magnificent pink tutu. I know, it’s a weakness, but one I have no regrets about! You see, a girl has to be properly dressed for her Viennese adventures, and a little pink sparkle never hurts! Thankfully, a delightful little boutique nestled on the Kärntner Strasse did not disappoint. Imagine my delight, darling - I stumbled upon a delicate, flowing pink tulle skirt, layered with fluffy feathers, with a dazzling pink sequin belt! The perfect balance of feminine, elegant and pink – my absolute favourite combo!

Vienna’s ballet heritage has left its mark on its shops too - I found some darling ballet-inspired jewelry, delicate and intricate designs, reminding me of the ballerinas' beautiful movement and form! A beautiful crystal necklace featuring tiny pink butterflies – you know I couldn’t resist adding it to my collection, to go perfectly with my pink tutu! A truly unique find.

But, it’s not all tutus and shopping (although, that's definitely a large part of my trip)! This weekend is the most magical event in Vienna – The Vienna International Dance Festival. Oh, how my little heart is pumping! To be in the same city as such a grand festival is almost too much excitement! For three whole days, I will be dancing along to live music from all over the world. It’s going to be a veritable whirlwind of waltzes and ballroom gowns and of course, an abundance of tutus! The perfect excuse to revisit Vienna's rich history through the art of dance. And to find more fabulous fashion finds in the boutiques on Kärntner Strasse – naturally.

Speaking of history, darling, Vienna's past is truly fascinating. Did you know the first "ballet" in Austria, in 1499? It was called a "tanz" - and guess what, they even had special outfits to wear! Although not quite the elaborate tutus we have today, imagine how the audience was mesmerized - just think how it felt to see those dancers moving in those special outfits! Just goes to show how ballet’s journey has inspired people for centuries. It's truly a magical art form and I'm utterly enthralled! It’s a journey we should all take – a journey in pink!

In between my ballet immersion, I will be sampling the city's delicacies, especially all that heavenly Viennese chocolate! I plan to explore Vienna on foot (for those gorgeous street scenes!), by tram (gotta embrace those romantic European experiences!), and by horse-drawn carriage, naturally!

And just imagine, all of this magic for the grand price of two fantastic ballet performances! My darlings, the ballet performances fund my adventures! It’s amazing to think that a single evening can transport you to new cultures and magical cities. But I’m always happy to trade a few performances for a lovely travel adventure - after all, it’s all about keeping my Pink Tutu passion alive. And don't forget, my goal is to inspire every single one of you to wear a pink tutu! And, if Vienna hasn't convinced you, then I don't know what will!

So stay tuned my dears, I'm sure this weekend's adventures will have a whole host of delightful photos of me gracefully dancing in my magnificent pink tutu across Vienna’s most famous streets - perhaps even the Vienna Opera House! You know I love a good photo opportunity!

Until next Wednesday, darlings!

With love and pink tutus,

Emma xx
