Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #888 - Whirlwind Wednesday in Vienna!

Hello my lovely pink-loving tutu-wearing friends! It's Emma here, your pinkest blogger, back from another magical adventure! Today I'm writing from Vienna, Austria, where the air smells of freshly baked pastries and the streets echo with the waltzing music that sets the heart a-flutter! I truly believe Vienna is one of the most enchanting cities in Europe, a perfect blend of elegance and history, perfect for my pink tutu clad self!

This week, it’s Wednesday, my beloved weekly Vienna blogging day. So pour yourself a cuppa (I’m enjoying a lovely apricot iced tea here in Vienna) and settle in for a story of a pink-tutu wearing ballerina in a beautiful city.

Tutu Train Tracks!

This morning, my journey to Vienna began in a most delightful way – by train! I’ve always adored train journeys, the rhythmic clatter and the anticipation of a new destination! I even had a comfy carriage to myself, with little tables where I could lay out all my fashion finds from the last week (a pink floral hat from London’s Portobello Road market, and a gorgeous fuchsia silk scarf from a Parisian boutique – can you tell I'm on a bit of a shopping spree?).

As I gazed out the window, the countryside blurred by, an explosion of colours. Green fields met lush forests, quaint villages whizzed past, and a herd of majestic horses even gave me a friendly greeting (oh, the joy of train journeys!)! I was dressed in a lovely pink tutu with black ballet flats (it's always practical to be prepared for a spontaneous twirl!). And I was determined to leave a bit of pink magic everywhere I went!

Vienna, Here I Come!

Reaching Vienna felt like stepping into a grand fairytale. My first stop was, naturally, a tutu shop! Oh, the twirling delights! There were tiers of delicate tulle, dazzling rhinestones, and enough colour to make any ballerina’s heart sing. I even found a gorgeous vintage tutu that's going to make its debut on Friday, and I simply can’t wait to show you all!

Later that evening, I stumbled upon the most charming little bakery tucked away in a quiet cobblestone lane. Imagine: a small, pink storefront filled with fragrant Viennese pastries. My nose practically dragged me through the door! And while my eyes were overwhelmed with the delectable array of treats, my stomach insisted on a piece of Sacher Torte, Vienna’s legendary chocolate cake. (It’s pink in the centre! So naturally I had to try it).

A Symphony of Culture

The following morning, I visited the Schönbrunn Palace. This grand estate, former residence of the Habsburg dynasty, oozes history and grace. The baroque architecture, the expansive gardens, the whispering fountains… every corner was like stepping into a royal dream. Imagine my delight when I discovered an old music room. The air was thick with the lingering sound of Mozart, the grandeur of the room reflecting his legendary genius. I could almost hear the graceful notes of the waltz floating around me! (I might have even had a tiny, twirling moment right there!)

Ballet in Vienna!

As my love affair with Vienna began to blossom, so too did my desire to experience the city’s vibrant ballet scene. Vienna has such a rich history of ballet, from the Imperial Ballet at the Hofburg to the renowned Vienna State Opera. Tonight, I’m heading to the Theater an der Wien, a stunning theater dating back to the late 18th century. Tonight’s performance is of the "Sleeping Beauty” and my heart is already skipping a beat with anticipation!

Later in the week, I'm also looking forward to taking a ballet class at the Vienna State Opera’s ballet academy. Vienna is a ballerina's paradise - imagine, learning from world-class teachers in the most historical and inspiring settings. Oh, the joy of it all! And maybe, just maybe, my pink tutu and I will perform on the same stage one day!

More to Come!

Of course, there’s so much more to tell! We’ll talk about the most fabulous boutiques, the beautiful gardens, the lively street performers and oh! the charming café culture. And most definitely, about how much I’ve fallen in love with Vienna and all its whimsical glory!

Remember to check back next Wednesday, for another fun-filled post from Vienna, as we’ll delve deeper into all the sights, sounds and wonders of this amazing city. Until then, keep twirling, keep smiling and keep the pink shining!

Yours in pink,

Emma
