Post 889: Viennese Whirlwinds and Pink Tutu Dreams - Wednesday 16th May 2012

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, fresh from the heart of Vienna, where the waltz still reigns supreme and my pink tutu is turning heads faster than a galloping Lipizzaner. This week's blog is bursting with Viennese delights - think grand opera houses, elegant coffee houses, and the most delectable pastries you can imagine (all consumed, of course, in my signature pink tutu).

A Trip Through Time, On Wheels & On Horseback

Arriving in Vienna is a symphony of beauty and history. Stepping off the train (always a thrilling mode of travel - think glamorous carriage, only with a more reliable schedule!), the grandeur of the city embraced me. Imagine cobbled streets, towering palaces, and the unmistakable scent of Viennese pastries – it's a city that just oozes old-world charm.

I’ve spent the past week discovering the city in my own inimitable way. First, a jaunt into the world of equine elegance - a horse-drawn carriage ride through the heart of the city. It’s a timeless tradition that truly transported me back to a bygone era. The clip-clop of hooves on cobblestones and the gentle swaying of the carriage as we strolled past the Vienna State Opera House - the ultimate symphony of sound and sight.

Vienna's Dancing Legacy - More than just a waltz.

For a dancer at heart, Vienna is an absolute dream. After all, it's the birthplace of the waltz! This week has been filled with ballet class, where I’ve learned the elegant moves that make this dance so captivating. There’s just something so captivating about a ballroom full of whirling dancers – I always get swept away by the magic of the waltz!

But the waltz isn’t the only dance to capture my fancy in Vienna. Ballet, of course, reigns supreme, and this week I had the honour of seeing the magnificent "Sleeping Beauty" at the Vienna State Opera. The spectacle of it all, from the opulent set design to the costumes (especially the ballerina’s dazzling tutus!) was beyond enchanting. And let's not forget the incredible talent on display! I came away from the performance feeling utterly inspired - the power of ballet to transport audiences to other worlds, it's truly magic.

Speaking of magic…

A Whimsical Wander through a Wonderland of Tutus!

Today I went on a little adventure - a shopping spree! No ballerina can ever resist a good tutu shopping trip, and Vienna didn’t disappoint. I found a charming shop nestled down a side street that offered a wonderland of colourful tulle, silk ribbons, and even vintage ballet slippers! Of course, I couldn't resist purchasing a few new additions to my pink tutu collection. A brand new blush-pink tutu, complete with cascading ribbons and a touch of sparkling sequins - a true Viennese dream!

And this, my darling readers, leads me to my biggest dream - spreading the joy of the pink tutu. This is no mere fashion choice, it's a statement of feminine power and joy, a symbol of self-expression and whimsy. In a world sometimes too focused on the serious, let's embrace the beauty of a little pink fluff! I aim to create a wave of pink tutu positivity – let’s inspire everyone to find their inner ballerina and twirl through life with unbridled joy!

Don't forget, dear readers!

Remember to join me next Wednesday for more delightful escapades from the city of waltzes and pink tutus.

Until then, keep twirling!

Love,

Emma
