Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #890 - Vienna Calling!
Hello my darling darlings! Itās Wednesday again, which means itās time for a new post on Pink Tutu Vienna! Iām back in Vienna, Austria, for this weekās adventure, and boy, oh boy, are you in for a treat!
Vienna is the most beautiful city in the world. Itās like a fairytale with stunning architecture, charming coffee shops, and music literally filling the air. As you may know, Vienna is renowned for its incredible classical music legacy and ballet, and this city holds a special place in my heart ā itās like being back home but even more wonderful!
This week I've been indulging my inner ballerina in the most fabulous way possible! Iām about to share my exciting experience with you, but first, letās talk about my outfit! š
The Perfect Vienna Look
Of course, a pink tutu is a must-have for any outing in Vienna! Today I chose my brand new āRosebudā tutu, a gorgeous shade of bubblegum pink. I paired it with a soft white chiffon top and a pair of ivory ballet pumps - simple, chic, and ready to twirl!
This time I've even added a touch of Parisian chic with a little black beret and a sparkly vintage necklace that belonged to my dear Gran. She was quite the fashionista, you know!
Vienna, A Ballerina's Dream
Let me tell you, this trip has been a ballerinaās dream! Itās filled with incredible history, stunning architecture, and, of course, world-class ballet. Did you know the first documented ballet performance took place in Vienna in the year 1581?! It's fascinating to think how the history of dance is deeply rooted here.
My first stop was the magnificent Vienna State Opera, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. As soon as I stepped into the opulent foyer, I was overwhelmed by its sheer grandeur ā it felt like a fairytale come to life! It truly took my breath away! The ceiling paintings were simply breathtaking, and the glittering chandeliers were so dazzling, I could have danced all night!
I managed to secure a ticket to the evening's ballet performance, which featured āSwan Lakeā ā one of my absolute favourites! As the music swelled, I felt an electric wave of anticipation ripple through the auditorium, and the beautiful costumes and elegant movements just sent shivers down my spine!
Twirling Through Vienna
After the performance, I strolled along the beautiful streets of Vienna, feeling like a true fairytale princess in my tutu! It was like the entire city was designed for me to twirl through ā the cobbled streets, the beautiful gardens, the elegant squares ā every corner was a magical moment!
You see, darling, I always wear my tutu wherever I go. And you know, everyone is so lovely and kind about it! The people of Vienna, they love a little sparkle! A few times, they even stopped to say hello and ask me about the tutu. Iāve been showing them that it is never too late to be a princess and twirl about like a magical being.
Oh, I almost forgot! It wouldnāt be a true Viennese experience without a visit to a traditional coffee house. I picked one with a grand old faƧade, and oh, darling, it was just divine! I ordered a delicious Sachertorte ā it was so rich and decadent, I could have eaten it all myself! And you just wouldnāt believe how good it tasted!
And wouldnāt you know it, right next to the coffee shop, was a beautiful vintage clothing store, with some of the most incredible pieces from the 1950s. Of course, I had to indulge in a little retail therapy! Imagine my delight when I discovered a perfectly pink velvet dress! My little heart just skipped a beat ā a perfect outfit to pair with my tulle, for all the dancing fun I had planned!
A Tutu and A Train
Today is a big day for travel ā Iām getting a train to Salzburg! The journey is a mere two-and-a-half hours and I just adore travelling by train. All those grand European railway stations with their high ceilings and intricate designs ā theyāre pure magic!
As we chugged along, I sat beside the window watching the beautiful scenery go by. It was such a lovely feeling, to watch the fields, forests and quaint villages rushing past ā it made me think about my grand-grand-mother who travelled Europe with the utmost excitement during the roaring 20s ā I just imagine the sights she saw, and the wonders she explored. A lifetime of adventure, all for just one girl in a tutu!
Salzburg, City of Music and More!
I was in Austria for a ballet show in Salzburg yesterday, but didn't get a chance to write this post because, darling, it was such a whirlwind! The Salzburger Festspiele is one of the most prestigious and important art festivals in the world, and you wouldnāt believe the number of amazing ballerinas, singers, musicians and actors that were there ā truly spectacular!
It took my breath away as I sat in the elegant theatre watching the ballet performers twirling effortlessly on the stage! The sheer brilliance of the performance, the beauty of the costumes and the exquisite movements...I was so completely mesmerised I almost forgot to take notes!
I managed to visit Mozartās birthplace in Salzburg. How divine was his life, and how lucky he was to have such an amazing home city, steeped in history! His love for the city truly poured out into his beautiful compositions, and the spirit of music lives on here ā almost in every alleyway and garden! Salzburg really is a unique city for a ballerina ā there is so much to experience and enjoy!
A Day With The Horses
The one thing that truly takes my breath away in Austria are the majestic Lipizzaner stallions. Itās like walking into a fairytale when I see their elegance and grace! These white stallions are a breed of horse that originated in Austria and are famous for their magnificent equestrian performances.
I managed to go and see a demonstration of the stallions at a traditional stable in the foothills of the Alps. The horses were absolutely stunning, with their glossy white coats and flowing manes! The way they moved ā their grace and agility were incredible!
I canāt even describe the joy of getting to meet these gentle giants. I canāt help but think they share a special link with us ballerinas. Their moves, their elegant lines, their dedication to artistry and dance ā they are truly the dancers of the horse world!
A Ballet Tutu Journey
This whole adventure is inspiring me to bring the magic of ballet to more people! Just a few days ago, I had a rather unique experienceā¦while waiting at a local market, a little girl saw me in my tutu, and I was absolutely delighted that she was wearing one too! She came running up to me with a huge smile on her face, her bright little eyes sparkling! I swear, my heart just melted as I saw her beautiful expression, full of delight and wonder.
Itās all those moments that remind me how important it is to share my love of ballet with the world! So let's bring more colour and magic into the world! Wear pink, twirl with glee and donāt be afraid to sparkle!
Until next time, my darling darlings, remember to always keep twirling! And let's all remember, itās never too late to embrace the magic of dance and twirl about in our very own pink tutus!
Love and hugs,
Emma, The Pink Tutu Princess š
