Pink Tutu Vienna: #909 – Waltz with Vienna!

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means a new blog post from your favourite tutu-wearing traveller! This week, I've whisked myself off to the most romantic city in Europe – Vienna, Austria!

Train Travels and Tutu Delights

The journey here was magical, as always. I love the romance of train travel – the clickety-clack of the wheels, the ever-changing scenery, and the feeling of being transported to another world. I opted for a first-class ticket, naturally, so I could stretch out in my lovely pink satin dressing gown and have a little tutu-twirling practice in the aisle. It's always so much fun seeing people's reactions when a pink-clad ballerina strides through their carriage.

Speaking of pink, let's talk about the fashion scene in Vienna! I've been on a bit of a pink spree – think gorgeous vintage silk dresses, blush-toned ballet flats, and a delightfully fluffy pink tulle cardigan, perfect for layering over a sweet cotton dress. And of course, no visit to Vienna is complete without a new tutu. Today, I snagged a stunning peach-coloured tutu with beautiful silver detailing – I can't wait to show it off!

Waltzing with the Stars

Tonight, I'm going to a ballet performance at the Vienna State Opera, the most exquisite opera house in the world! It's a world-famous company and they're performing my favourite ballet, "Giselle." I am so excited! There's nothing I love more than losing myself in the beauty of the story and the artistry of the dancers. There's something truly magical about seeing dancers move like the wind in these incredible costumes – I get so caught up in the emotion and wonder.

A Dance Through History

Before tonight's performance, I’m planning to visit the Hofburg Palace and see the Spanish Riding School. I’ve always been fascinated by the history of ballet, particularly the influence of the Spanish Royal Court in shaping its early development. The Lipizzaner stallions, so renowned for their elegant, graceful movement, really highlight how the connection between horse and rider, dance and animal grace, has always been there, intertwined. Can you even imagine the amazing feats of skill and strength involved? I think this kind of showmanship will bring a new appreciation for the skill required in any dancer!

Speaking of history, it’s no secret that I’m a bit obsessed with tutus, so I plan to pop by the Vienna Museum of Performing Arts. It has a stunning collection of costumes, including some gorgeous historical tutus! I can't wait to see how the tutu has evolved over the years and how its styles have reflected different periods in history – and who knows, maybe I’ll find a new inspiration for my next creation!

Vienna and its Culinary Delights

Oh, and the food here is divine! Of course, I had to try Sachertorte (it’s like the cake version of Vienna!). It was heavenly – a dark chocolate sponge layered with apricot jam, topped with a luscious chocolate glaze, and dusted with powdered sugar. It was the perfect way to end a busy day of exploration. And don’t even get me started on the coffee! The Viennese truly know how to make a cuppa – Vienna roast, anyone?

The Tutu Mission Continues

Of course, the biggest reason I'm in Vienna is to continue my mission – to get everyone wearing pink tutus! And guess what? I've had some wonderful successes! One lovely gentleman, Franz, saw me twirling outside a café and complimented my outfit! “Lovely pink, dear lady!” he said, and then even let me borrow his lovely floral pocket square to accessorise my look!

Join Me in Vienna!

Vienna has such a wonderful atmosphere - so many graceful spaces, the delicious cafes, the elegant buildings, and the rich culture. This place is like something out of a fairytale – even more so for a tutu-loving ballerina like me! I’ll be writing more about my Viennese adventures in my next post, so don’t miss out!
