Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 929 - Waltz Me Away!
Hello, my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna, your weekly dose of all things pink, frilly, and utterly fabulous!
Itās Wednesday, the 20th of February, and guess what? Iām in Vienna, the City of Music, and let me tell you, itās just as enchanting as they say! I arrived last week by train, of course. What else could a tutu-clad adventurer travel by? And honestly, whatās more romantic than chugging through Europe in a carriage with views of the rolling hills and snow-capped mountains? Absolutely nothing, darling!
Vienna, as you know, is the birthplace of some of the greatest classical composers. Mozart, Strauss, Beethoven, you name them, they've all graced the city with their genius. Of course, any visit here needs to include a trip to the Vienna State Opera House, and oh, it's majestic! All gilded, grand, and brimming with history. Iāve been there twice already this week, seeing āThe Magic Fluteā on Monday (utterly captivating, by the way) and a ballet performance of āGiselleā yesterday, which was simply divine! The sheer artistry of the dancers, the opulent costumes, and the passionate music... my heart was utterly enraptured. I nearly bought another tutu, it was so tempting, darling!
But beyond the majestic performances, itās the Vienna itself that stole my heart. I've spent the last week exploring the streets, taking in the beauty of St. Stephen's Cathedral, admiring the architecture of Schƶnbrunn Palace (did you know Marie Antoinette, who, Iām sure, had quite a collection of her own tutus, stayed there!), and savoring the Viennese pastries, oh, my dear, the Viennese pastriesā¦ they are exquisite! Iāve got a secret plan to go to a grand ball at one of these grand old palacesā¦ maybe next week! Whatās more, this weekend is the āFaschingā, which is the traditional Viennese carnival, and darling, I hear it's a joyous celebration filled with dancing and masqueradesā¦ You know what they say: the more glitter, the merrier!
However, while this is an absolutely charming city, what I love most about Vienna are its people. Youād think with the beautiful buildings, the delicious food, and the endless supply of cultural delights, the Viennese would be snobbish or aloof. Oh, my darlings, you couldnāt be more wrong! I found them to be incredibly kind and warm. As I was walking around on my second day, I even bumped into a man, a charming gentleman with a beautiful silver handlebar mustache, and while we were laughing about the tumble, he simply had to see the exquisite pink tutu I was wearing. He invited me to his nieceās wedding, you see, she's learning ballet and he thought it would be delightful to have a ātutu guestā, imagine that!
Speaking of delightful tutus, the city is teeming with adorable boutiques. I have managed to unearth a little independent shop hidden away down a cobblestone street in the city center. The owner, an older gentleman named Anton, seems to have the most charming collection of lace, satin, and sequins I've ever laid my eyes upon. This place is positively heaven! I was even invited to try on one of the custom tutus that he made, and darling, you canāt imagine how fabulous I felt! Anton told me itās his dream to create a full line of balletwear with his stunning designs and my ābold fashion sense,ā and darling, weāve just begun to brainstorm our own pink-tutu infused collection! You wait, Pink Tutu Vienna, along with my latest designs, will soon be available across all the charming boutiques across Europe!
Vienna, darling, you've utterly charmed me! The grand waltz halls, the rich history, the friendly faces, the beautiful shops - I simply cannot get enough. And while the weather has been quite chilly (no, not āLondon freezing coldā like back in Derbyshire, but chilly nonetheless) I just know that as spring begins, Vienna will be transformed into a magical garden of roses, perfect for twirling!
Until next Wednesday, darling, stay rosy and full of sparkle. Do send your love to your favourite tutu-loving ballerina!
XOXO,
Emma
