Vienna Waltz: Tutu Time in the City of Dreams (Blog Post #992)

Wednesday, 7th May, 2014

Darling readers,

Well, hello from the heart of Europe, Vienna! The train journey was a pure delight, like something out of a vintage film – a glamorous compartment, buttery pastries, and endless vistas of rolling hills bathed in golden sunlight. I'd even persuaded the train conductor to let me travel in my tutu – a soft, petal-pink masterpiece with delicate tulle layers, a perfect match for the Austrian countryside. You can imagine the curious glances, and I, of course, simply smiled sweetly and gave a graceful curtsy. After all, what's a journey without a little touch of whimsy?

As soon as my feet touched Vienna's cobbled streets, the city embraced me with its own charming magic. I felt like a fairytale princess, strolling beneath grand arches, admiring the architecture adorned with delicate flowers, and catching a whiff of Viennese coffee wafting from charming cafes. Vienna, darling, is like stepping back in time, a perfect blend of regal grandeur and bohemian spirit.

And what a ballet scene! It's positively bursting with talent, history, and just the right amount of glitter. Oh, I can't wait to share all my adventures! But first, let's get you into the spirit of the city with a bit of Vienna-themed fashion inspiration.

Vienna in Pink

The colours of Vienna are a vibrant kaleidoscope. Think bold reds and greens for a touch of historical grandeur, or sunny yellows and warm browns for the rustic charm of a local cafe. But of course, a touch of pink is always welcome. After all, wouldn't a waltz across the Vienna State Opera be far more elegant in a delicate blush pink?

For a touch of imperial elegance, try:

  • A crisp, white, tailored blouse paired with a flowing, floor-length pink tulle skirt. Think grand entrances and glittering balls.
  • A high-waisted, pink brocade bodice with a swirling, pink-printed midi-skirt. Add a touch of sparkle with an antique cameo pin.

For a more relaxed afternoon in a quaint cafe, try:

  • A simple pink dress with delicate floral embroidery. Think dainty afternoon tea and whispered conversations.
  • A light, airy pink cashmere sweater paired with wide-leg, pink trousers. Add a touch of vintage with a straw hat and a satchel bag.

Of course, I'd never be caught without a touch of ballet in my Vienna ensemble. So, my essential item? A fluffy, feather boa! It adds that extra dash of glamorous theatricality. It’s all about feeling confident and playful, embracing your inner ballerina wherever you are.

Tutu History: A Glimpse Into Vienna's Ballet Scene

Oh, and speaking of ballet... did you know Vienna boasts one of the oldest and most renowned ballet companies in the world? The Vienna State Opera Ballet has been dazzling audiences for centuries, nurturing world-class dancers and maintaining an unparalleled tradition of artistic excellence. Today, I’ll be attending a special performance of "Giselle," a hauntingly beautiful ballet that celebrates both classical technique and dramatic storytelling. You can imagine how thrilled I am! And I'm just dying to catch a glimpse of their rehearsal studio. I just imagine it filled with whispers of pink tutus and graceful pirouettes.

Tomorrow, I’ll be exploring the heart of Vienna, where waltz music floats through cobblestone streets and where every corner tells a story of imperial glory and artistic inspiration.

I can already imagine the sights: the glorious architecture of the Hofburg Palace, the stunning masterpieces of the Belvedere Palace, and of course, the iconic Schönbrunn Palace, where generations of royalty waltzed across the grand halls.

I'll be sharing my adventures, dear readers, in all their tutu-infused glory!

Stay tuned for a very pink, very Viennese week ahead. And as always, remember to embrace the magic of pink. It truly has the power to make every moment a beautiful, twirling, joyful adventure.

See you on the dance floor, Vienna!

XOXO

Emma
