Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 999 - Vienna Waltz & A Touch of Pink

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina blogger, Emma, back with another delightful adventure. This week, I'm writing to you from the heart of Vienna, Austria! This city truly lives up to its name - it’s so elegant, charming and romantic. The architecture, the music, the pastries... Oh, the pastries! They're absolutely heavenly. I've been spending my days indulging in delicious coffee and cakes in cute little cafes, gazing up at stunning buildings and enjoying the atmosphere. It feels like I’ve stepped into a fairytale, but with a fabulous modern twist.

I have to confess, Vienna has truly captured my heart (not just with those adorable little pastries, although they certainly play a part). I feel a real kinship with the city, and with the Austrians. They have such a deep appreciation for art and beauty, much like I do, especially when it comes to ballet! I mean, let's face it, the Vienna State Opera is world-renowned and their dancers are absolutely exquisite.

So, on my very first evening in Vienna, I was lucky enough to attend a stunning ballet performance at the Vienna State Opera House. I managed to nab the very last ticket for a special performance of Tchaikovsky's “Swan Lake,” which is truly my favourite. There were so many beautiful tutus – classic and elegant – on display. I could have died and gone to ballerina heaven right there in that theatre!

You see, Vienna isn't just known for its gorgeous architecture and fabulous waltzes; it's also got an amazing ballet scene. Vienna's got so much ballet history and even the very word “ballet” originates from an Italian word meaning ‘to dance’ - "balletto," which was derived from the word “ballo”, meaning dance.

I'm planning on taking a couple of ballet classes during my stay here - Vienna Ballet Studio and Tanzstudio Austria have fantastic reviews! And I’ve also spotted a fabulous, very vintage-style costume and accessory store – so much pink tulle and lace, you'd think you'd been whisked to a fairytale wonderland. I can hardly wait to check it out – they say they've got a tutu that would make even the most fabulous ballerina swoon!

I also adore the fact that Vienna's culture is so deeply ingrained in its daily life. Even walking down the street, you hear the beautiful waltzes playing in the air, and Vienna’s a wonderful place to soak in the culture and simply people watch - Vienna's full of lovely people!

I've been doing a little shopping and of course, I've snagged myself a beautiful pink, tutu-like, floor-length, velvet skirt. You just have to have a touch of pink when you’re waltzing the night away in Vienna, and I simply couldn't resist. And don't worry, darling - I’ve already got plans for the most fabulous #pinktutuselfie in the iconic Schönbrunn Palace gardens.

You know how much I adore travelling by train and what could be more elegant and romantic than a train ride through the Austrian countryside? It was absolutely breath-taking. So, while in Austria I decided to travel to the quaint little village of Halstatt – an absolutely adorable town tucked away amongst the mountains. Imagine the beauty – beautiful pastel coloured houses nestled on the shores of a lake surrounded by towering mountains. The whole place is just incredibly picturesque! It’s truly been a fairytale experience and of course, I made sure to document every pink-tutu-tastic moment, which I’ll share with you in my next post!

**Oh, and speaking of this date... June 25th! It's National Pink Day! It’s absolutely fate that I should be in Austria to celebrate such a joyous occasion. It’s clear that fate is on my side to spread the pink-tutu love even more than usual. Of course, I will be sporting my most gorgeous pink tutu - and the #pinktutulove is definitely going to be flooding the #pinktutuvienna hashtag throughout this post and my upcoming one! I’m hoping that, even with a few more weeks left in the year, we can smash our Pink Tutu record – a staggering 5 million pink-tutu sightings so far. Isn’t it just divine?

You can join me by posting your best pink-tutu pics on social media and using #pinktutulove. And, don’t forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com each week to follow me on my fabulous, pink tutu filled, adventures around the world!**

To be honest, you guys are the best readers! You're a fabulous, diverse community of beautiful, kind, funny and stylish individuals - you know who you are. And I am simply blown away by how much joy you share with me every day – with each and every one of you!

Oh, and as promised in last week's blog post, I’ll be sharing my delicious Austrian cake recipe with you - it's simply to die for - so watch out for that.

Keep smiling, keep sparkling, and keep on wearing pink! Until next time, darling!

Emma xx
