Vienna, my love! (Blog Post #1006)
Oh my darling readers, Vienna has stolen my heart! This magnificent city is simply overflowing with charm and culture, and my pink tutu has been spinning in delight! This week I've been soaking up all the wonderful delights Vienna has to offer – ballet, shopping, delicious Viennese cakes and horses! What more could a girl ask for?
Let's start with the real reason I'm in Vienna… ballet! My love for the dance knows no bounds, and I was beyond excited to visit the Vienna State Opera. The sheer grandeur of the building took my breath away, it was like stepping straight into a fairytale. The intricate gold detailing and stunning velvet seating – just breathtaking! This week I got to see "Swan Lake," and let me tell you, the performance was pure magic. I was mesmerised by the beautiful dancers, the graceful choreography, and the incredible costumes. It reminded me why I fell in love with ballet all those years ago. There was even a lovely tutu in one of the scenes – the sheer brilliance of a perfect pointe shoe with tulle swirling around it had me doing pirouettes in my seat!
Speaking of tutus, I've been absolutely spoilt for choice in Vienna! There are so many delightful boutiques, each more charming than the last. I picked up the most exquisite, hand-crafted, bright pink tutu with silk flowers! It will look simply divine on my next performance. Speaking of performances, I've had the absolute pleasure of getting a bit of practice in. There is a most delightful dance academy right next door to my darling little Viennese hotel, with the most adorable ballet studio, oh, how I love those gorgeous ballet barres!
However, you can’t just live on ballet, and luckily for me, Vienna offers some of the most delicious food in the world. Imagine delicate slices of Sachertorte, oozing with rich chocolate ganache, and flaky Apfelstrudel, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, melting in your mouth. I am in absolute heaven! I had a wonderful day on Tuesday enjoying delicious treats at a café nestled between two historic buildings – simply stunning. Then I spent Wednesday strolling along the cobblestone streets, marveling at the magnificent architecture and stopping at little shops and market stalls filled with beautiful trinkets and colourful flowers.
But of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a little horse riding adventure. Today I experienced the city from a totally new perspective - on horseback. It's just amazing how Vienna makes horses feel right at home. It was absolutely glorious cantering through the parks and taking in the breathtaking views of the cityscape. The gentle rocking movement of the horse helped me unwind after the whirlwind of excitement, perfect for a pink tutu wearing ballerina!
All in all, my time in Vienna has been absolutely magical, and my pink tutu is practically bursting with delight. This beautiful city has a way of making you feel like you're living in a fairy tale – all the romantic history and architecture! But perhaps the greatest thing about Vienna is its people. They are so warm, friendly, and welcoming – always with a smile and a friendly "guten Tag!" I truly felt like I belonged.
Oh, darling readers, I hope this blog post has transported you a little bit to this wonderful city with me. And, just as always, remember: you are all beautiful and unique, no matter what size, shape or colour! Embrace your individuality, put on a tutu and spin your way into a fabulous life! You can find me on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for a new post about my travels! Until next time, x-x-o-x
