Vienna Waltz: A Pink Tutu Paradise! (Post #1013)

Hello, my lovely Tutu Twirlers!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! It's time for another dazzling dose of Pink Tutu Vienna!

I've been waltzing through Vienna for a week now, and this city is just... breathtaking! The grand architecture, the vibrant culture, the incredible coffee… it's a real feast for the senses! Of course, it doesn't hurt that Vienna is the birthplace of the waltz – the quintessential dance of romance and grace. And where better to explore this glorious history than at the Hofburg Palace, where the Emperor Franz Joseph I once held court.

Imperial Glamour and Tutu Dreams

Let's rewind a bit – my journey to Vienna began with a glorious train ride from beautiful Derbyshire, England. I love those old-fashioned carriages, with the rocking rhythm of the wheels and the comforting click-clack against the rails. It was the perfect way to arrive in Vienna, ready for some imperial fairytale fun.

The Hofburg Palace is magnificent! I'm not sure how many times I gasped during the tour – its grandeur is truly awe-inspiring. Imagine, ladies, tutus twirling amongst the elaborate gilded halls and opulent gardens!

Speaking of tutus, did you know that the Hofburg Palace even has its own ballet history? During the 17th and 18th centuries, the court would stage ballet performances right in the palace itself! Imagine the exquisite costumes, the grand gestures, the swirling fabrics! Just thinking about it sets my own tutu dreaming.

Waltzing through the City

But Vienna isn't just about the past; it’s a city bursting with life. After my grand palace adventure, I took a leisurely walk through the Stadtpark – a lush oasis of greenery and sculpted statues right in the heart of Vienna. This place felt almost magical. There were even little concerts happening – imagine the thrill of having an orchestra perform in your park! I almost wanted to pull out my tutu and waltz along, but I restrained myself for this one – although a pink tutu wouldn’t be amiss among those beautiful flowerbeds.

As the sun set, I headed towards the iconic Vienna State Opera. The golden glow of the opera house as evening approached was just magical! It’s almost as if the building itself was made for grand entrances – just like when I’m wearing a big pink tutu for one of my performances!

I couldn’t resist booking a ticket to see Verdi's La Traviata - a classic and a real treat for a Pink Tutu blogger! The story itself is one of love, sacrifice and passionate emotion, all played out against the beautiful backdrop of 19th century Parisian life.

And you know what? I caught myself swaying in the theatre as the music swept through the auditorium – almost like a waltz of emotions! The sheer talent on display from the opera singers was spellbinding, each voice as intricate and vibrant as a couture tutu. The whole experience reminded me why I love live performance, the electricity of being part of something beautiful and emotional.

Vienna Fashion Spree!

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a shopping spree! I've spent the last few days waltzing through the shops, searching for treasures that will inspire my wardrobe and bring some Viennese flair to my ballet routines. You’ve got to be a fashionista like me to appreciate just how much love there is for pretty clothes in Vienna!

My personal favourites were the little boutique shops in the trendy 7th District. I picked up a gorgeous, flowing, dusky pink chiffon skirt that just begs to be twirled! And, of course, I found some truly exquisite pink and white striped gloves that would look absolutely dazzling with a white tulle tutu.

*Horses, Tutu's and the "Lipizzaner" *

After my shopping adventures, I was drawn to the Spanish Riding School – a legendary place, where white Lipizzaner horses perform classic dressage, a captivating art form. It’s so intriguing to watch the horses execute those movements, flowing as effortlessly as a perfectly executed pirouette. You can almost imagine them twirling in their own, miniature tutus!

The riders, dressed in black breeches and scarlet jackets, gave me all the vibes of an 18th century fairytale prince (but perhaps with slightly shorter shorts). And the Lipizzaners themselves, with their majestic white coats, were truly beautiful. I couldn’t help but feel that there was a powerful connection between horses and ballerinas; both movements were about graceful athleticism and the magic of artistry.

Viennese Pastry Paradise

For those of you who are as obsessed with all things sweet as I am, you won’t believe how delicious the pastries in Vienna are. And they come in all colours imaginable! From buttery strudels to delicate sachertorten – Vienna’s pastry scene is a symphony of taste! My personal favourite has to be the Mozartkugel – a rich and creamy chocolate treat inspired by Mozart. Just writing this, and my stomach is starting to rumble!

Speaking of rumbling, after a morning of exploring Vienna’s vibrant streets, I've booked a cosy, charming cafe – the kind of place with velvet chairs and tables for two. Today’s treat – Viennese coffee with a sliver of Viennese Apple Strudel, paired with a vintage book on the history of ballet. Now that’s a recipe for a perfect Wednesday!

So, as the afternoon winds down and Vienna begins to hum with its own waltz-like rhythm, I bid you farewell for now, my dear Tutu Twirlers. But before you go, promise me one thing: don't let this be just another Wednesday, turn it into a Wednesday to remember!

Don your pink tutus and spin your way through the week with the grace of a Viennese waltz. And who knows, maybe, just maybe, you'll find yourself inspired to embrace the magic of the moment – just like I do with my pink tutu adventures.

Remember, life is a performance, so dance with your heart, twirl with your soul and always, always, stay pink!

Until next Wednesday,

Emma, x
