Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #1060: Waltz into Vienna, My Darlings!

Wednesday, 26th August 2015

Hello, my gorgeous tutu-loving darlings! This week, your favourite pink-clad ballerina has ventured out of the English countryside and landed, with a delightful thump upon Austrian soil! I know, I know - I couldn't resist the lure of the waltz, the cobbled streets, and of course, the fabulous fashion scene that Vienna has to offer! This, my dears, is the true meaning of a glamorous getaway.

From my home in Derbyshire, the journey was an absolute dream. A train journey, yes, but not just any train journey! We embarked on the most beautiful journey by rail, snaking our way across Europe, with landscapes that felt as though they were painted by the most talented of artists. And I, naturally, wore a perfectly pink tutu, a bright pop of colour against the rolling greenery. (The secret is in the strategically-placed petticoats - I always ensure maximum volume, naturally!) My travel tutu, if you will, is a real marvel, a symphony of feathers and sparkles. This little number is more durable than it looks, I can assure you. And when I reached the heart of Vienna, its ethereal twirls danced beautifully with the gentle swaying of the carriages, almost like an impromptu ballet performance. I practically heard the music swell, just for me!

Upon arrival in Vienna, I was immediately whisked away by my most delightful (and, cough surprisingly tall, but we'll ignore that) driver in a carriage, pulled by two horses! The epitome of elegance! My dear, if you haven't had the opportunity to experience such a trip, I highly recommend it. The horses are magnificently trained, and their hooves make such a beautiful, rhythmical clip-clop against the cobblestones that I felt as though I were dancing even before we reached our destination. I almost began to tutut before I realised we hadn't reached our final destination! But it was a close call! I confess, my dears, the journey felt rather like a magical interlude from a Viennese ballet. It simply begged for a twirl.

Speaking of twirls, and, dare I say, waltzing... I've found my haven. We arrived at a gorgeous hotel that, believe me, could have been taken straight from a romantic novel. I'm writing to you from a charming balcony with a view of the gardens, and trust me, it is simply breathtaking! The air smells like roses, the gentle breeze dances through the trees, and every corner is bursting with life and joy. And in the distance, I can hear the music of a symphony playing, a harmonious sound that seems to perfectly compliment the romantic ambience of the city.

I have to admit, darling, I can't help but fall in love with the history, the grandeur, and the spirit of Vienna! It feels like a city of elegant promenades, lavish ballrooms, and whispered secrets. Every cobbled street, every stately building, every cafe and market stalls tells a story - and they all seem to weave together to create the most captivating symphony of fashion, art, and elegance! I've only just begun to explore, and already, I know that I will cherish these memories for a lifetime.

The most beautiful thing? Vienna seems to be the perfect location for all things pink! The beautiful flower gardens and flower markets overflowing with blushing peonies, cherry blossoms, and the most incredible pink roses. I know you know what this means, darling... a perfectly pink shopping trip to match the incredible surroundings. Don't worry, I'm sure the details will be popping up on my social media, a treat for you to enjoy! And my dear, oh dear, I can't wait to share all my discoveries. You see, there's a real magic in exploring new places, particularly if those places speak to the tutu-loving girl inside of me.

But wait, darling... that's not all! Tonight, we have the privilege of seeing a real-life Viennese ballet performance, set in a truly magnificent theatre. You know me, a passionate aficionado of the dance world, and you can imagine the excitement surging through my very core. My pink tulle will be making an appearance of course! A ballerina can never be too prepared for the possibility of an impromptu twirl - after all, the real fashion happens on the streets! It will be an absolute dream, watching the exquisite choreography come alive beneath the magnificent crystal chandeliers. Oh, the artistry, the music, the story... I can practically feel it already!

You can be sure I'll be sharing every detail with you. My dear, stay tuned! In the meantime, I want to know: What are your favourite pink tutus for travelling? Are there any hidden gems in Vienna that I must visit? And, more importantly, would you dance a waltz with me under the Austrian stars?

Stay twirling, my loves, Emma xxx

(And do let me know if you're coming to Vienna - we might even share a tutu adventure! )

(Psst! Did I mention I found the most divine collection of pink tutus in the most elegant shop? Don't worry, I shall share all my discoveries with you next week!)

My Favourite Pink Tutu Spots in Vienna!

(So, you know how I always say "find the pink!" in every place I visit, right? Well, Vienna was an absolute explosion of pink - you practically trip over pink blooms! But for a fashionista, that just means a great adventure. And what adventure wouldn't be complete without some tips on where to get your pink tutu fix in the most stylish way!)

The Pinkest Fashion Secrets!
  • The Palais Auersperg: A Majestic Waltz into Style

Oh, my darlings, this place! Picture this: a palace fit for a princess (think waltzing ballrooms and sweeping staircases), filled with elegant boutiques and the most exquisite fashion finds! If you are in search of luxury, darling, this is where you go. This was definitely a favourite amongst the locals who flocked to buy elegant attire and enjoy the sophisticated ambience.

  • Shopping on Mariahilfer Straße - Your Parisian Chic Starts Here!

If you're searching for stylish pieces with a bit of pink flair, Mariahilfer Strasse is where to be! I found absolutely fabulous little boutiques along the way. You could say the shopping vibe is similar to Paris (a sophisticated yet approachable kind of cool). The pink touches came in the form of blouses, skirts, and shoes... and of course, a couple of stunning, feather-filled tutus just waiting to take their bow!

Ballet - A Viennese Waltz for the Soul
  • Vienna State Opera: The City's Iconic Stage This beautiful building is not just about the architecture (which is breathtaking, with a regal yet friendly touch) but also the most sensational performances! The energy here is absolutely electric. From Sleeping Beauty to the ever-so-romantic La Bayadère, this was a haven for dance-lovers of all ages!

    • Ballet School in the Rathausplatz: The Ballet Bliss! I had to find a ballet school here. This gorgeous building was simply charming. The little dancers there - with their shiny pink shoes - gave me a proper dose of ballerina inspiration. And I even found some pink tutu ribbons for my own collection. This is a true heart of ballet culture.
My Viennese Finds

And speaking of pink... oh, I nearly forgot to tell you about this amazing, small, little Pink store that I stumbled upon while shopping on my way back to the hotel. You can find the perfect accessories to add a touch of femininity and sweetness to your wardrobe! They even have pink silk scarves to tie around your tutu for a little extra flair! I definitely purchased something, but you'll have to wait till I post it on my social media pages to see my newest fashion find. 😉

And if you're dreaming of your own ballerina-inspired getaway, keep an eye on my blog. You might just get some extra tutu inspiration to plan your next adventure!

And now, darling, off I go, into the ballet world. Vienna's grandeur calls to my inner ballerina, and the perfect pink tutu waits!
