Vienna, My Dearest! A Tutu-tastic Time in the City of Music! (Post #1065)

Wednesday, September 30th, 2015

Greetings, my darlings! Emma here, your resident tutu-wearing travel enthusiast, writing to you from the enchanting city of Vienna!

I just arrived yesterday evening, fresh off a rather splendid train journey from Budapest (the carriage was plush and I even managed to catch a quick nap, all while sporting my signature pink tutu, of course). I was so excited to hop off the train and onto the charming streets of Vienna, already feeling the magic of this grand city wash over me.

Now, I’m no stranger to travelling in style, you see. I always manage to squeeze in a couple of performances each week, funding my adventures through the grace and artistry of my dance. It’s not always easy to travel light when you’re lugging around a multitude of tutus, but the rewards are worth it. After all, a good tutu makes everything better!

My Vienna stay began in true pink-tutu fashion. Upon arriving at my quaint hotel, I was greeted with the sweetest surprise – a box filled with an array of delicate pink macarons, perfect for an afternoon tea party in my room! Of course, I had to wear my tulle-layered, pastel-pink confection of a tutu, which was a splendid sight alongside the dainty macarons.

The Heartbeat of Vienna – Music and Ballet

Today was a whirlwind of cultural immersion. Vienna, after all, is the city of music, the heart of waltzes and opera! This city boasts such a rich history, filled with tales of great musicians and artistic giants. My heart is absolutely giddy with the sheer amount of culture available here!

First on my agenda? A trip to the exquisite Vienna State Opera House. Oh, it's breathtaking! The building itself is a grand piece of architecture, but stepping inside is like stepping into a world of magical dreams! The air vibrated with the energy of music, anticipation, and, dare I say, a healthy dose of excitement.

The Vienna State Ballet are renowned for their spectacular performances and it's true, their artistry truly captivated me. A rendition of “Swan Lake”, so powerful, so beautiful. I'm no stranger to ballet myself, of course, having danced for as long as I can remember. To witness the skill of the dancers was an experience I won't soon forget!

Later, I went on a truly charming carriage ride. It was such a lovely way to experience the cobblestone streets and grand squares. I found myself feeling like I'd travelled back in time to a bygone era, surrounded by the gentle clip-clop of horse hooves.

Shopping Extravaganza in Vienna

After my carriage ride, I decided it was time for some retail therapy – because what's a trip to a fashion-forward city without a bit of shopping?

I strolled down the cobbled streets, admiring the shop windows displaying delicate lace, exquisite silk, and timeless furs. Every corner seemed to hold a treasure waiting to be discovered! I stumbled upon the most wonderful boutique that stocked the most delightful tutus! It had everything, from delicate silk tulle to glittering sequins, even a fabulous pink tutu (with an abundance of fluffy feathers!) It was just a bit too over the top for me (though, quite tempting I must say), but I couldn't resist a pair of silk pink ballet shoes that perfectly complimented my tutu-wearing lifestyle.

I also had a chance to explore Vienna's unique vintage shops – those are always my favourite spots to hunt for one-of-a-kind treasures! The selection of clothing was divine! I found myself lost in a wonderland of swirling fabrics, exquisite designs, and even a few vintage tutus, though none of them quite captured my heart like my own collection.

A Ballerina's Journey Continues…

I've already fallen deeply in love with Vienna's energy, its culture, its sheer charm! The music, the dance, the stunning architecture, the delicious food – it's all simply magical! This city truly embraces its creative heart, its passion for artistry.

It’s not all about the grandeur, though! It’s the everyday moments that truly enchant me – a cafe with warm, spiced Viennese coffee, a street performer playing a soulful melody on the violin, a friendly local giving me directions to the city’s most beautiful gardens.

I know this trip will stay with me long after I’ve returned home, tucked away as a cherished memory within my tutu-wearing heart. The city has already given me countless ideas for future tutu creations and even inspiration for a new piece to perform on my return. And you can be sure that Vienna will feature in many of my future blog posts, its history and magic weaved through my musings.

Until next time, my dearest readers, I must bid you farewell, for the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra is beckoning me for another evening of pure musical delight!

Yours always, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
