Pink Tutu Vienna: #1064 - A Whirlwind of Pink in Vienna!
Guten Tag, darling readers! This week finds me in the heart of Vienna, Austria, a city that's just as elegant and captivating as a swan dive. And, of course, I've come armed with a pink tutu – well, two actually, just to be on the safe side. I simply can't be without my beloved tutus, they're like my lucky charms, making the world just a little bit brighter and twirlier!
This week's adventure started with a leisurely journey across the Channel, hopping aboard the Eurostar in the pinkest dress imaginable (you simply cannot blend in, can you?). It's truly the most romantic way to travel – especially when you have a carriage to yourself. After all, who wouldn't prefer the gentle rocking of a train to the turbulence of a plane? I had a most fabulous cup of tea and a scone with clotted cream (heavenly!).
Speaking of travel, I found the most adorable little horse-drawn carriage here in Vienna – I simply had to take a spin! And let me tell you, the twinkle of the horse's hooves against the cobbled streets and the scent of old Vienna are quite enchanting.
Now, what brings me to Vienna? Well, you know me, darling – always chasing a good ballet show! This week, I had the pleasure of seeing "Swan Lake" at the Vienna State Opera – pure, utter magic! The dancers were so graceful, and the music was so evocative, it felt like I'd stepped straight into a fairytale. And, of course, the costumes! Such exquisite tutus! I'd even venture to say I may have shed a few tears – it's the way I show my appreciation, you know?
Afterward, I explored Vienna's incredible Hofburg Palace. This magnificent building is a veritable feast for the eyes – a wonderland of historical architecture and art. It's so impressive, it almost makes my tutus look understated. Almost! The palace holds a very special place in my heart. I can't think of a better place to imagine ballet's history unfolding, from its ancient Greek roots to the grand days of the Russian Imperial Ballet.
And no trip to Vienna is complete without a visit to the beautiful Schönbrunn Palace Gardens – it's truly a haven for beauty and inspiration! I mean, have you ever seen a rose garden like that? A perfect location to twirl a pink tutu, if you ask me.
Speaking of tutus, I just can't help myself – shopping is a must. I've found some incredible finds, including the perfect pale pink lace tutu for my evening outings and a pair of the most adorable little ballet shoes adorned with Swarovski crystals. If I had to pick a favourite though, it's a beautiful deep crimson satin tutu – it’s going to be perfect for a waltz around Vienna’s Hofburg.
And naturally, the shopping didn't stop there. The Vienna boutiques are bursting with exquisite garments and accessories, making me feel like a ballerina doll. The outfits here have so much romance, and I’ve stocked up on plenty of tulle, lace, and of course, pink – enough to last me through countless performances and photo opportunities.
Today, the city is filled with the melodies of the "Vienna Philharmonic" in concert at the Musikverein. I'm sure you can hear it, my dears, if you listen closely enough! I'm so thrilled to be surrounded by this symphony of beauty and elegance. What more could a girl ask for?
But wait, there’s more! My dear readers, as much as I love ballet, I’ve been fascinated by Vienna’s rich theatrical history – imagine, centuries of actors and singers dazzling the world from right here! This city breathes theatre – just like I breathe tulle, if you get my drift! Today, I plan to take a peek at Vienna’s oldest and most beloved theatre, the Burgtheater. It's full of grand history, even if not always about ballerinas!
Tonight, however, I’m back to my ballet roots with an enchanting show at the Theater an der Wien. The perfect ending to a whirlwind week of ballet, music, history and shopping.
Vienna, you've completely captivated me. It's such a romantic, vibrant, and breathtaking city, the perfect backdrop for a pink tutu enthusiast like myself. I'm going to make sure I'm back soon, to explore more of your magical corners.
Oh, and dear readers, keep those tutus twirling, those smiles wide, and let the music guide you! Because the world is a much more beautiful place when you're twirling in pink, and life is truly a performance. Until next time, stay sparkly!
Love,
Emma
