Pink Tutu Vienna: A Ballet-Filled Whirl Through the City of Music! (Post #1071)
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the heart of Europe: Vienna! This magnificent city truly took my breath away - it was the perfect blend of elegant history, sumptuous culture, and breathtaking beauty. And you know me, darling, I couldn't resist twirling around in my pink tutu in every picture-perfect spot. 😉
I made my way to this gorgeous city via a grand train journey – the sort of luxurious ride that whispers tales of waltzes and emperors. It was like stepping into a classic film, except I was rocking a modern pink tutu with a vintage-inspired cardigan! Speaking of, Vienna is definitely the place to be for vintage lovers - I was particularly enamored with their second-hand stores full of dreamy 1920s frocks and perfectly worn ballet shoes. 🩰
Now, as you know, a ballet-loving heart like mine can't resist a trip to the Vienna State Opera House. Oh, my dear friends, it was a dream! I was treated to a sublime performance of La Bohème. The drama, the passion, the beautiful choreography - I was utterly transported to another world! And of course, the sheer magnificence of the venue itself just added to the magic! This grand, ornate theatre made me feel like I was part of a fairytale – and I even got to admire the history behind the architecture and design, a subject close to my heart. My dear Derbyshire roots have instilled in me an appreciation for historic sites, especially those linked to the beautiful art of dance. The ballet heritage here in Vienna is so rich!
And just when I thought things couldn’t get any more glamorous, I discovered Vienna’s Ballet Street! Oh my! It's a wonderland for dancers! From studios overflowing with exquisite tutus, to boutiques brimming with fabulous costumes and dance accessories, I felt a thrill of excitement that only a ballerina can understand. I even got myself a bespoke feather boa – something so uniquely vintage it made my inner tutu-wearer positively swoon! 😍
Oh, darling, I wouldn’t be true to my Pink Tutu persona without mentioning the shops! Vienna has the most delightful boutiques and department stores - it’s truly a shopping haven! I found some exquisite fabrics and materials for my latest pink tutu creations. I can’t wait to put my needle and thread to work and whip up some showstopping designs! 🪡
The fashion in Vienna is effortlessly chic, a lovely blend of contemporary and classic with a touch of romanticism. They really know how to wear colour here, but there's also a hint of classic elegance - think long flowing skirts, graceful trousers and beautifully fitted coats. This made me feel very much at home – my ballet and theatre fashion style blends classic elegance with vibrant colours – with a big helping of twirl! 😉
Vienna is also known for its magnificent horses - I couldn’t resist a carriage ride! The feeling of gliding through the city, with a gorgeous steed pulling us along, was just incredible. We visited the Spanish Riding School and were treated to a magnificent performance by the famous Lipizzaner horses. Their elegant movements and perfect grace made me feel truly humbled and reminded me of the elegance and skill that ballet embodies.
Speaking of the beautiful things that make Vienna so enchanting, did you know today is November 11th? You might know this day as the traditional Armistice Day in England – a day to reflect on the sacrifice made for our freedom. But you know what else November 11th marks, darlings? It marks the birthdate of the legendary Margot Fonteyn! 🩰 A true ballet icon. This made me feel truly inspired, a feeling I always experience when in this majestic city.
Vienna is such a magical city and my travels there were utterly transformative. From dancing to shopping to immersing myself in culture, every minute was a precious memory. So, darlings, if you ever get a chance to visit Vienna, be sure to don your pink tutu, grab your favourite shoes, and prepare to twirl with the magic of this remarkable city!
Stay twirling,
Emma xoxo
