Pink Tutu Vienna: A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel (Post #1095)

Wednesday, 27th April 2016

Darling readers,

Vienna! My feet are barely touching the ground (not literally, as they're firmly planted in my beloved pink ballet shoes) as I dash through the cobbled streets of this magical city, my pink tulle skirt billowing behind me like a joyous cloud. Vienna, oh Vienna, you are truly a waltz in a tutu, a fairytale come alive!

As the carriage (yes, a horse-drawn carriage, what else!) rolled to a halt at the foot of the majestic Hofburg Palace, my heart practically did a pirouette. Vienna is a city that whispers history, elegance and… chocolate! My fellow tutu enthusiasts, you'll never believe the glorious chocolate shops I stumbled upon in the Naschmarkt, bursting with bonbons and truffles in shades of pink, purple and even… drumroll… a delightful teal! I confess, a few delectable pink pralines found their way into my handbag – for research purposes, of course!

My mission for this week? To soak up the Viennese ballet scene! Vienna, you see, is where the waltz originated, and every cobblestone echoes with its rhythmic pulse. And as we all know, ballet is the queen of dance! I'm absolutely giddy at the prospect of catching a performance at the Vienna State Opera. Can you imagine the opulent chandeliers, the plush velvet seats, the breathtaking performances? It's practically a fairy-tale for a pink-loving tutu princess like myself!

A Love for Ballet, Old and New

This trip is extra special because it's not just about enjoying performances, darling. This week I’ll be attending a ballet history lecture at the esteemed Academy of Fine Arts, delving deeper into the origins of the graceful art form. Oh, the sheer joy of learning about the iconic tutus and the grand ballerinas of the past! Can't wait to share some fascinating facts with you next week.

But it's not all history, of course! This week, I’m also treating myself to a ballet class in the beautiful Stadtpark. Fancy swirling under the willow trees, my tulle catching the wind, surrounded by fellow ballet enthusiasts? My toes are itching for a bit of pointe work and a generous helping of pirouettes.

The Waltz of Shopping and Fashion

Naturally, no trip to Vienna is complete without a grand fashion spree. Did you know the Viennese are famous for their exquisite craftsmanship, their stunning brocades and velvets? This weekend, I plan to hunt for unique vintage pieces at the opulent flea market in the Naschmarkt. It's a true sartorial adventure! Imagine the possibility of finding a dusty vintage tutu with a whisper of history! (Maybe with just a little help from my trusty seamstress, I could bring it back to life with a little pink tulle magic...)

Vienna by Night:

Don't be fooled by my pastel-tinted world, darlings. This weekend, I’ll be experiencing Vienna by night – not a typical night out, you understand! Tonight, we're off to a spectacular Viennese street theatre performance! Just picture this: candlelit alleyways, dramatic storytelling, music flowing through the cobblestone streets, all while a little pink tutu waltzes in the centre of it all!

Pink Tutus and a Heart Full of Vienna

As you can see, my darling readers, Vienna has truly stolen my heart. Its rich culture, vibrant energy and, of course, the irresistible rhythm of waltz have woven themselves into my tutu-covered soul. It’s not just the grand palaces, the waltzing couples and the chocolate, though – it’s the way Vienna seems to embrace joy and whimsy. I must admit, there's even a faint scent of pink magic in the air. I can't wait to explore more of this fairytale city, perhaps even inspire a few more locals to dance their way to happiness in a pink tutu!

I shall keep you posted on all my exciting discoveries. Don’t forget, darling readers, visit my website www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for my latest blog adventures! Until next time, may your tutus twirl beautifully!

With a skip and a twirl,

Emma xox
