#PinkTutuVienna: Whirlwind Waltz in Vienna - Post 1097

Wednesday 11th May 2016

Oh, my darlings, what a delightful week it's been! This pink tutu's been twirling through Vienna, and it's been absolutely magical!

The journey itself was a fairy tale - a gloriously sunny morning ride on the Eurostar from Derbyshire, England, followed by a picturesque train journey through the Bavarian countryside, past charming villages and fields of vibrant wildflowers. The landscape, I swear, looked like a painted backdrop for a ballet.

Upon arrival, I was immediately smitten with Vienna. Thereā€™s something so graceful and elegant about the city, with its grand buildings and cobblestone streets. It's like stepping back in time to a grand waltz, which of course, is incredibly appropriate! As if straight out of a waltz scene, a majestic white horse and carriage, all gleaming and grand, appeared just outside the train station. Itā€™s quite a delightful transport experience here!

Of course, it was time for a little shopping in Vienna's fabulous boutiques - my dear, it is the absolute paradise for all things stylish. From delicate lace to opulent fabrics, Viennaā€™s shops are filled with every shade of pink imaginable. I purchased the most exquisite rose-tinted silk scarf to tie to my tutu - canā€™t wait to give it its first twirl at tonight's show.

Speaking of which, tonight I'm attending a performance at the Vienna State Opera. It's the legendary ā€œSwan Lakeā€, one of the most beautiful and timeless ballets, performed in the iconic Vienna State Opera house. The anticipation has been building all day. Can you even imagine? Tchaikovsky's iconic music filling the air, the grace of the ballerinas as they dance, and all those breathtaking tutus... I'm so utterly thrilled.

But my adventures didnā€™t stop there. On Monday, I spent the afternoon wandering through the Vienna Opera House Museum - a fantastic place to soak up some history, learning about the buildingā€™s origins, and about the incredible dance productions which have been held there.

It's an iconic landmark, built in the grand neoclassical style and, truly, every bit as exquisite as its stage productions.

Naturally, a museum trip for this tutu-wearing traveller wouldnā€™t be complete without visiting the beautiful Vienna Hofburg Palace!

While admiring its breathtaking architecture, I found myself reflecting on the history of the Palace. Did you know that this grand structure was once the home of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth? I actually feel an emotional connection to the palace, you know - Empress Elisabeth, also known as Sisi, was a ballet enthusiast, you see. The sheer history that breathes from these old stonesā€¦ it's inspiring.

Now, youā€™re probably wondering how I managed to fit all these delightful adventures into just a few days. The answer is a bit of a secret: The money I make from ballet performances is how Iā€™m able to travel the world and see the best shows, try fabulous local cuisine, and, of course, buy some of the worldā€™s most stunning tutus. I just know that you are wondering how I earn so much, dear readers, and letā€™s just say, Iā€™ve been told Iā€™m rather a talented ballerina! I like to keep a few of my best skills as a little surprise, darling. If you are wondering what they are, I'm just going to have to leave you guessing for a little while, my darlings!

And what about those fabulous Vienna cafes and restaurants? Well, they're pure perfection, each offering an amazing ambiance and a symphony of flavours! I'm already dreaming about the "Wiener Schnitzel", which is utterly divine. And letā€™s not forget those delectable Viennese cakes!

Speaking of, if you happen to be in Vienna - you have to try the Sacher-Torte, darling. They say it was invented at this iconic Hotel Sacher - itā€™s definitely the best cake Iā€™ve ever had!

But perhaps the best thing about my stay so far has been the people. The locals are so incredibly kind and warm, and so proud of their cityā€™s tradition of ballet and, of course, their fashion sense!

Speaking of fashion sense, my darlingsā€¦

I can't leave Vienna without mentioning its incredible vintage shops - where I managed to get my hands on a darling pink satin skirt. The perfect pairing for a pink tutu, of course.

And darling, donā€™t you just adore a great fashion deal? In Viennaā€™s beautiful, historic Naschmarkt, I found a beautiful embroidered fabric from Morocco. Canā€™t wait to have this made into a gorgeous, flowing evening skirt, with my new rose-tinted scarf.

I promise, you'll be seeing many pictures of this latest look!

As I sip my Viennese coffee, surrounded by the romantic energy of the city, I can't help but dream of how much more adventure awaits me. I feel as if Vienna is inspiring me to truly make my dream come true - the dream of encouraging all you lovely girls (and maybe even a few daring fellas) to put on their most amazing pink tutu and embrace life's grand waltz. Itā€™s really all about the graceful spin and twirl.

Until next Wednesday, stay stylish and keep dreaming!

Love and twirls, Emma xx
