Pink Tutu Vienna: Post No. 1106 - The Waltz Capital and My Pink Tutu Dreams
Hello, my dearest tutu-loving friends! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of pink, sparkle, and Vienna! This week I've been dancing my way through the waltz capital, taking in all the glorious sights, sounds, and… well, actually, I’m just doing a lot of sightseeing, since my pink tutu doesn’t quite fit in with the Viennese classical music scene just yet. But never fear! My vision for spreading pink tutus across the globe remains strong, even amidst the grandeur of Austria!
Before I dive into the delights of Vienna, I must share a confession - I’ve become rather attached to my new train companion! As I write, she’s tucked into her corner seat with me – a stunning, dappled-grey mare named Vienna. Yes, my dears, my travel to Austria was more Cinderella than Ryanair this time. A lovely, well-connected ballet patron – he is one of the lovely, ballet-loving, older gentlemen, I mentioned in previous blogs, that I occasionally work for and am also friendly with – allowed me to use one of his horses for the journey, which added to the fairytale aspect of my visit immensely. After all, who wouldn’t love riding into a city of majestic architecture and charming cafés with the wind in your hair and your pink tutu billowing behind you?!
And what architecture! From the opulent Vienna State Opera to the ornate Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna is a symphony for the eyes. Everything is beautifully symmetrical, grand, and, naturally, perfectly photogenic – for all my pink-tutu-wearing followers! I must confess that Vienna’s history is as fascinating as the city itself – all that grandness! Imagine it in a pink tutu! And of course, what’s Vienna without its famous waltzes? The music just begs to be twirled to, even if I do have to do my twirling in my hotel room for the moment – I’m in the very heart of waltzing after all. My darling Vienna would have to be brought to a halt outside! Every afternoon, I’m trying to make my way to a café – this has become a ritual. There is such an element of leisurely elegance in these wonderful cafés! Vienna's café culture truly makes this city feel timeless – all I’m missing is a pink tutu-wearing Franz Joseph for the complete experience!
Of course, my pink tutu isn’t left to the hotel room! Yesterday I attended an incredible exhibition dedicated to the history of the tutu! What I found fascinating was how the tutu's silhouette evolved over the decades, from the bell-shaped designs of the 19th century, to the fluffy romantic tutus of the 1950s, and to the shorter, tighter, modern designs that are favoured nowadays. It made me realise that the tutu is a symbol of femininity, of dance, and of constant evolution – all things close to my own heart! It got me thinking – how will my beloved pink tutu fit into this long, grand and evolving history? And how can we create more styles that bring the spirit of the pink tutu to life?
This journey isn't just about exploring a city; it's about immersing myself in its stories, embracing the elegance of Vienna, and yes, of course, spreading my message of pink-tutu-love wherever I go! And let me tell you, Vienna is a most accommodating city – its charm and rich history are intoxicating and inspiring. I’m already picturing the scene for next week’s post – and it involves my trusty grey mare, an elaborate palace and the most elegant, elegant, tutu I own….
I leave you today with this thought: never let the rhythm of life keep you from your dream of embracing pink tutus – wear it every day if you can!
And be sure to tune in next Wednesday, for my next Vienna adventures – I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
Much love and sparkly smiles,
Emma xx
