Vienna Waltz: Post 1117 - A Pink Tutu in the City of Music!
Hello my gorgeous darlings!
This week I'm waltzing my way through the beautiful city of Vienna! This fabulous city just oozes history and culture, it's so dreamy it makes me want to pirouette in the streets! I travelled here from Prague by train (of course) which gave me the chance to indulge in a little fashion show on wheels. My fellow train travellers certainly had some double takes when my bubblegum pink tutu appeared from my travel bag. You just have to own those moments, darling!
A Waltz through Time:
My first stop in Vienna was the exquisite Hofburg Palace. This stunning royal residence is bursting with history. It was like stepping into a fairytale, each room adorned with incredible paintings and artifacts from the Habsburg era. It’s no surprise they held the opulent balls that inspire so many stories and ballets!
For a ballerina like me, the Spanish Riding School was a real highlight. It was such a privilege to watch these magnificent Lipizzaner stallions performing with such grace and power. I just have to try horseback riding next time I’m here!
Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a visit to the Vienna State Opera House. The moment I walked through those doors, my heart practically did a grand jeté! This place is legendary, the epicentre of music in Vienna. And even the building itself is stunningly beautiful with a real theatrical, historic grandeur. The chandeliers alone are dazzling!
Fashionista Finds:
Vienna’s got a really sophisticated vibe when it comes to style, which suits this pink-tutu-loving fashionista perfectly! It’s filled with beautiful vintage shops selling glamorous frocks and furs. I actually found a vintage sequined dress in a charity shop - bargain heaven! And for some glamorous footwear, I popped into the exclusive Frey Wille jewellery and enamel shop and got myself a sparkly pink enamel brooch for my tutu ensemble - it will sparkle beautifully on stage under the theatre lights.
Tutus and Twirling:
No trip is complete without seeing a ballet show, and I've already got tickets to The Sleeping Beauty at the Vienna State Opera House this Saturday! Can you imagine my excitement? I'm practically bouncing in my shoes (or should I say ballet slippers)!
Speaking of which, it's such an honour to be visiting a place with such a rich ballet heritage. I mean, think about the waltz! A quintessential ballroom dance which perfectly captures the romance and elegance of Vienna. There’s nothing quite like it. The elegance of the waltz was all the inspiration that Maria Taglioni needed in the 1800s to develop the Romantic ballerina style that focused on lightness, flow and soft gestures. And now, here I am, carrying that heritage on my pink tulle, living the dream, one pirouette at a time.
This Week's Inspiration:
My love for Vienna inspired this week’s little fashion creation: a stunning pink tutu, inspired by the colours of a summer evening in Austria, and hand-painted with intricate floral details, capturing the beauty of Vienna's botanical gardens. The bodice is covered in shimmering sequins, just like the glittering Schӧnbrunn Palace. My newest tutu - perfect for waltzing under the Viennese skies!
So, to all you lovely ladies, why not throw on a pink tutu and spread a little joy? You never know where it might take you.
Keep twirling and remember: it's always a good time to wear pink.
Until next week,
Emma.
