Pink Tutu Vienna: Ballet, Fashion, and Frittatas!

Wednesday, 9th November 2016 | Blog Post #1123

Guten Tag, darlings!

This week finds me twirling right in the heart of Vienna, Austria! The air is crisp and clean, the cobblestones are gleaming, and the cafes are brimming with laughter. Oh, how I love this city! And this time around, I've come prepared with my favourite pink tutu. A special one, with feathers, that tickles my knees every time I twirl – it's just made for waltzing!

Now, as a ballerina (and tutu-enthusiast extraordinaire!), I can't just travel to Vienna and NOT take in a ballet performance. Luckily, I’ve managed to snag tickets to a gala event at the Staatsoper Wien – it’s going to be glorious! And yes, I've found a very pink (and slightly glittery) clutch to go with my tutu – naturally.

Speaking of glitz, the fashion here in Vienna is absolutely fantastic! From the sleek tailoring to the vibrant colours, it’s a veritable catwalk of style. I’ve found a pair of chic pink leather boots with a dainty heel that are already getting plenty of compliments. Now, I just need a reason to wear them around!

Tutu Travels & Train Tales:

I arrived here from the UK via train - I'm always happy to travel by rail! It feels much more magical than flying - especially when I can wear my tutu on board. I even managed to strike up a conversation with a charming French gentleman about ballet history and, you guessed it, tutu history! (He wasn’t so enthused with pink, though…)

Speaking of history, this city is absolutely steeped in it. We had a delightful visit to Schönbrunn Palace today – a breathtaking royal residence. The Empress's dressing room had a rather fascinating display of early tutus and even some ballet shoes – absolutely beautiful!

Vienna Delights:

Of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without a visit to a traditional coffee house. Today’s treat was a “Sachertorte” – the most delicious chocolate cake! I can’t even resist a picture with a slice – my pink tutu and the perfect cake, a moment in Vienna time. I have a weakness for cakes you know – especially pink cakes. The best Viennese cake has to be a pink layered cream cake with maraschino cherry on top, although I must admit a decent chocolate cake with a generous dusting of powdered sugar always makes me happy.

Pink Tutu Project:

Don’t forget, my darlings! My goal is to get everyone wearing a pink tutu. You don’t have to be a ballerina! Every day is an opportunity for a little twirl and a dash of pink in your life. I encourage everyone to embrace the joy, the fun and the fabulousness of pink tutus.

Until next week, darlings! Remember, the world is your stage, and your pink tutu is your costume!

Lots of love, Emma x
