Pink Tutu Vienna: #1127 - Waltz into Wonderland!

Dearest Tutu-lovers,

It's Wednesday again, which means a brand new Vienna blog post! Today I'm feeling like I've truly waltzed into a whimsical wonderland, and that's all thanks to a truly magical day spent in this beautiful city.

But first, a little confession: ever since I started on this tutu-clad adventure, I've had a soft spot for travel by train. There's something so wonderfully romantic about gliding through the countryside, sipping a latte and watching the world whizz by, and this week's journey was no exception. It was an hour-long scenic jaunt from Derbyshire to London, where I caught the Eurostar, and I even managed to sneak in a spot of reading whilst wearing my fabulous new pink tulle headpiece - very chic, darling!

Anyway, London is a fantastic starting point, with endless shops and so much culture to soak up. This week I picked up a stunning pair of coral silk gloves, perfect for adding a touch of extravagance to my tutu outfits, as well as a divine pink fascinator with cascading feathers. My little black clutch bag couldn't wait to house these new additions, and I have to say, the whole ensemble felt just right!

The journey from London to Vienna on the Orient Express was nothing short of spectacular. This historic train, with its luxurious compartments and delectable onboard dining, felt like stepping into a storybook. The views, of course, were absolutely breathtaking, with picturesque landscapes changing at every turn. Honestly, the whole experience had me yearning for a glamorous era of travel, full of starched collars and fine teacups!

But let's get to Vienna, my lovelies! My heart nearly burst with joy as the train pulled into the magnificent Vienna Hauptbahnhof. It's simply an architectural masterpiece, and I couldn't wait to explore the vibrant streets beyond.

One of my first stops, as you all know, was the world-famous Vienna State Opera House. It's simply majestic - just look at those magnificent pillars! This year I had the absolute privilege of performing a piece on the stage of this incredible theatre, and trust me, the feeling is simply indescribable. To feel the buzz of the audience, the energy of the orchestra, and to witness the intricate artistry of the dancers – it was truly a moment I will never forget.

Afterwards, I ventured into the beautiful Hofburg Palace, once home to the Habsburg Emperors, for a delicious and beautifully presented dinner. I had the most exquisite Wiener Schnitzel – oh, the crispy, golden-brown batter! – and I even enjoyed a delectable apple strudel with whipped cream, all washed down with a glass of fruity sparkling wine.

The next morning, I woke to the city alive with sunshine and the sweet aroma of fresh bread, perfect for a morning stroll down Vienna's vibrant shopping streets. I felt truly inspired by the intricate detail of the Viennese buildings and the vintage charm of the local boutiques. One tiny little shop caught my eye - "Tüll & Spitze", a haven of tulle and lace, where I unearthed the most extraordinary pink tulle skirt. Honestly, it's perfect for my next tutu ensemble!

After indulging in a lovely, light lunch of goulash and a delicate chocolate croissant – yes, my waistline thanked me for the strudel! – I had the opportunity to attend a private tutu workshop at the world-famous Vienna Ballet Academy. This magnificent establishment has produced some of the greatest ballerinas in history, and to actually stand in the very classrooms where they trained felt incredibly inspiring! The tutor, an elegant and seasoned dancer herself, was kind enough to give me a masterclass in tutu construction and taught me the secrets of making my own graceful creations.

That evening, I decided to treat myself to a show. After all, what better way to end the day than with a beautiful ballet performance at the Vienna State Ballet? This time, the production was a stunning interpretation of Swan Lake. The music, the costumes, the grace of the dancers - it all truly brought me to tears. Ballet, my lovelies, is such an emotionally enriching art form, and I feel eternally grateful to be part of it!

Of course, my time in Vienna was all about more than just the ballet, and there is still so much I wanted to experience. For my last day, I set my sights on the majestic Schönbrunn Palace, one of the most breathtaking Baroque palaces in all of Austria. With its gardens, fountains and breathtaking imperial rooms, I simply felt like I had stepped into a storybook. And then there was the palace stable… and yes, a beautiful white horse. The staff at the stable told me all about how these noble creatures have a long history with the Vienna royal family. There is something truly magical about connecting with these magnificent animals!

With that beautiful final moment, my trip to Vienna came to an end. However, this amazing city and its spirit have left me feeling truly enchanted. From its incredible ballet heritage to its historical palaces and the elegant grace of the Viennese people, it is truly a city with an indescribable charm. I even felt like I left a piece of my heart in Vienna!

Before I go, darling tutu lovers, remember what I always say - spread your tutus, embrace the world in your own vibrant colours, and remember that a little sprinkle of pink magic goes a long way!

Until next Wednesday, darling, Emma xxx
