Post 1172: Vienna Waltz - A Pink Tutu Odyssey 🩰

Wednesday 18th October 2017

Darling readers, it’s a brand new week and time for another instalment from yours truly, Emma, bringing you all the pinkest and most twirly updates straight from the heart of Vienna! This city is an absolute dream for a tutu-loving gal like me - grand architecture, beautiful parks, and, of course, an incredible ballet scene. I even found the perfect vintage tutu shop today - it was pure magic, filled with feathers, silk and glittering sequins.

The Train Journey: My Favourite Way to Travel

I travelled from Derbyshire to Vienna by train, something I truly adore. There’s nothing quite like watching the scenery whizz by while indulging in a good book and a cuppa. Plus, it's a fantastic excuse to wear my most flamboyant tutu ensemble (it had to be my rose gold number, naturally!) – just imagine the heads turning on the platform!

A City Steeped in Ballet History

Vienna is overflowing with ballet history. We’re talking legendary dancers, magnificent theaters, and of course, the waltz - the quintessential dance of the city. Did you know that Vienna is home to the world-renowned Vienna State Opera House? It’s truly an architectural masterpiece! Just stepping into that grand building feels like entering another era.

Twirling through Schönbrunn Palace

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon exploring Schönbrunn Palace, a breathtaking masterpiece in its own right. It’s one of the most important historical landmarks in Vienna and I could practically hear the ghosts of ballerinas practicing their steps in the vast gardens. Can you imagine all the stories those walls have to tell?

A Date with the Viennese Waltz

Vienna is famous for its waltz, and I wouldn’t dare visit this city without having a go! Last night, I went to a traditional Viennese ball and, even though I am definitely not a professional, the waltzing made me feel so incredibly graceful. It’s amazing how something as simple as twirling with a partner can transport you to another world!

Fashion Frenzy in Vienna

This city is a dream for any shopaholic. From luxurious boutiques on the Graben to vintage shops in the Naschmarkt, Vienna is an endless source of stylish finds. Yesterday I snagged a gorgeous new pink silk scarf to complete my latest ballerina outfit - it’s the perfect addition to my tutu collection!

A Ballet Dream Come True

I was lucky enough to get tickets to a performance at the Vienna State Opera, which included Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The grandeur of the opera house itself added a certain magic to the experience, and the dancers were just extraordinary. It was the perfect evening of exquisite performance and beautiful ballet artistry.

Finding the Perfect Pink Tutu in Vienna

Today, my hunt for the ultimate pink tutu took me to a hidden gem – a vintage tutu shop nestled in a charming backstreet. It felt like a secret, shimmering treasure trove. The proprietor, a delightful elderly lady with twinkling eyes, was so passionate about her collection, explaining the history of each tutu with a soft voice. It was the most fascinating conversation about history, style and artistry I have had in a while.

Vienna: A Pink Tutu Paradise

I’m already so in love with Vienna. It's got everything I adore: history, culture, beauty, and, most importantly, the perfect blend of chic elegance and whimsical flair. With its grand architecture, delightful cafes, and inspiring ballet scene, it's a city I'd recommend to every ballerina - or anyone looking for an unforgettable travel experience.

Stay tuned, darlings, because there are so many more pink tutu adventures to come in this amazing city!

Love and twirls,

Emma 💖
