#PinkTutuVienna - Post 1173: A Waltz Through Vienna, My Tutu Travels Continue!

Hello my lovelies! It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means... a brand new #PinkTutuVienna post! This week, I've been whisked away to the majestic city of Vienna, and oh my, it's just as dreamy as I'd imagined. Think golden palaces, charming cobbled streets, and delicious Sachertorte! And of course, what trip would be complete without a pink tutu, eh?

Before I delve into my Vienna adventures, let's get a little festive and celebrate Halloween. Today is the 25th October, which means the spooky season is in full swing! And to all the little ghouls and goblins out there, you are SO welcome to rock a tutu! Halloween costumes don't have to be all scary and dark. Think a witch in a sparkly pink tutu! Imagine the fun and laughter. And let's be honest, tutus look fabulous with everything!

Now, back to Vienna. This gorgeous city was actually the birthplace of ballet, which feels like a little bit of a destiny thing for yours truly! So much history here. Vienna is bursting at the seams with magnificent palaces like Schönbrunn and Hofburg. I wandered around the Schönbrunn Gardens in a dreamy haze, feeling like a princess in my ballet-inspired dress (and of course, my signature pink tutu layered underneath!). And the Hofburg, oh my word, the history of ballet literally hums in the halls of this majestic palace. Just try to stop me gushing! I felt so much inspiration from just being here!

Talking of inspiration, I managed to catch a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake at the Vienna State Opera, the jewel of the city's ballet world. You all know how much I love my ballet, and seeing it performed here, on a grand stage steeped in history? Just magical! And for any fellow tutus-loving gals (or chaps) planning a Vienna trip, this is a must! I almost squealed out loud, I'm telling you! There are performances on just about every night here. You're bound to find a show to capture your heart.

But, it wasn't all palaces and performances, although those were definitely highlights! We (my ever-patient, tutu-loving hubby, Tom, of course) also spent time discovering the hidden charm of the city. A little tip: Vienna is best explored by taking a leisurely stroll along the Danube canal. The canal is lined with pretty little cafes and restaurants, where we found the perfect spot for afternoon coffee and Sachertorte. I must admit I ate far too much, but it was truly divine.

Speaking of shopping (as any fashion-conscious ballerina would), I found some absolute gems in the shops along Kärntner Straße. From the glitzy chandeliers and chandeliers at Swarovski to a little independent boutique where I found the most gorgeous pink silk scarf to match my latest pink tutu purchase. And a matching pair of fuchsia-pink ballet flats? Just dreamy!

The only down side? My luggage was bulging, even after leaving some precious souvenirs behind. And of course, all the extra bits and bobs for my Pink Tutu collection! I'm already making a list of all the shops to check out for next time. And, who knows? Maybe even a tailor to whip me up a Vienna-inspired pink tutu ensemble for next year! Oh the possibilities!

We also had the pleasure of hopping aboard a historic horse-drawn carriage, a traditional Vienna experience. Imagine, you are there, in a pink tutu, being whisked through the cobblestone streets. A vision in pink and elegance, don’t you agree? My dream life? It really does have it all!

Anyway, I can already feel a new pink tutu blog post blossoming... next week, perhaps I'll delve into the history of Vienna ballet. There’s a story there! Oh, I'm already buzzing with ideas, can you tell?!

But before I go, don't forget to let me know what you think of Vienna. Have you been to this magical city? Have you tried their delicious chocolate cake? And of course, have you been sporting a pink tutu?
