Vienna, My Dearest! #1179

Dearest readers,

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another pink-tutu-filled adventure from your favourite ballerina blogger! Today, I'm writing to you from the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria. This week's blog post will be all about ballet, history, and… drum roll… even more tutus, of course!

Before we delve into all things Vienna, I have to share something exciting with you! Just last night, I took to the stage in a dazzling ballet performance at the English National Ballet in London. My lovely Derbyshire audience absolutely loved it, showering me with bouquets of roses (and one glorious bunch of lilies). Such a treat for this little pink tutu-loving ballerina! Thanks to your support, my travels are funded, and my heart is filled with joy.

Anyway, let’s talk Vienna! As you all know, I love travelling by train and this time was no exception. I’m absolutely besotted with European train travel. It’s such a romantic way to travel. The journey was as delightful as the destination. I gazed out at rolling hills, charming villages, and, yes, you guessed it - more glorious castles. My imagination was on overdrive, envisioning grand ballrooms and ladies waltzing in their most exquisite tulle skirts, just waiting for me to be swept away. I am convinced that fairies and princesses have to exist because Vienna is absolutely brimming with their magic!

Now, about my latest Viennese adventures:

The Grand Ballet Adventures:

First, my most delightful ballet discovery here: the Vienna State Opera. Imagine a venue dripping with grandeur, history, and the magic of music and dance, it’s a breathtaking blend of opulence and artistry. You can literally feel the history in the walls! This weekend, I'm going to see the ballet ‘The Nutcracker’ and I’m more excited than a little girl at a sweets shop.

I spent the morning at the Wiener Staatsballett school, attending an absolutely charming class led by the most talented and charming teacher, Herr Ludwig. His grace and instruction were inspiring, and you’d never believe it, but even I learned something new today! His style, like that of Vienna, was traditional and classical yet with an unmistakably Viennese flair - very special.

As a tutu enthusiast, I simply couldn't leave Vienna without visiting the Kunsthistorisches Museum's fantastic collection of fashion and textiles. Their dress exhibit had several beautifully preserved, exquisite, late-nineteenth-century tutu-like ballet skirts – and that lovely Romantic feel is what inspires me so much! The fabric! The details! It was a feast for my eyes and soul, like stepping into a storybook!

I did, of course, pop into the local boutiques. No trip is complete without a tutu hunt. I’m excited to say that I discovered the cutest, most dainty pink tutu at a vintage shop near the Hofburg Palace, which was an unexpected treasure indeed!

Vienna is positively bursting with beautifully designed and decorated shops with such charming and whimsical displays - I fell in love with them. From quaint coffee shops to the grandeur of the palace - it’s impossible to walk down a street and not admire the elegant architecture. Everything about this city whispers, "romance!"

Food and Fun in Vienna

Of course, the best part of my Viennese escapades has been indulging in some glorious Viennese food. I’m enjoying all the Viennese culinary treats – the exquisite Viennese Sachertorte (and a little Schnitzel) for lunch – yum! And let’s not forget the warm, fragrant spiced Christmas punch with the Viennese gingerbread – all of it was beyond amazing!

Now, as I look at the charming city of Vienna sprawled out below me – with its palaces and cobblestone streets – from my little apartment overlooking the Volksgarten - I’m feeling incredibly inspired! My pink tutu just loves the Viennese spirit and charm!

Join Me on the Pink Tutu Movement

This is just a little taste of Vienna - I'm going to be spending another week exploring this glorious city, soaking up its history and beauty. There are still so many things to see and explore: The Hofburg Palace, Schönbrunn Palace, the Albertina Museum, the Cathedral of St. Stephen… the list goes on. But for now, it’s time for my hot chocolate, a warm bath, and a brand new tutu in my beautiful pink wardrobe.

Oh, before I forget, I have to leave you all with a little challenge - #PinkTutuVienna! Take pictures of yourselves in your favourite tutus and post them on social media! The more of you rocking your tutus in style, the brighter the world will be! You don't have to be a dancer; I believe tutus are a magical garment for everyone, from toddlers to grandmothers, we all deserve a bit of whimsy in our lives. I dare you all to take on the challenge! Who knows, maybe we can even spark a #pinktutufashion trend!

Now, remember to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for all of my daily ballet, tutu, and travel adventures. Let's keep the joy of pink and the magical world of tutus alive. See you next week with more pink-tutu-fied inspiration.

With lots of love and twirls,
