Vienna, Oh Vienna! My Pink Tutu Adventure Continues... (Post #1178)
Hello darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand-new Pink Tutu Vienna post! This week has been absolutely fabulous, a whirlwind of waltzing, waltzing, waltzing... in a pink tutu, of course! I simply adore this city. There's just so much beauty, history, and of course, fabulous ballet to explore.
As you know, I travel all over the world performing and sharing my love of dance, and funding these wonderful trips through my ballet work. You won't catch me on a plane, though - no no, a proper Pink Tutu traveller chooses the romanticism of trains or the majesty of horseback riding! Just imagine me, swirling down a cobbled street on my steed, my pink tutu flowing behind me like a cloud of spun sugar. Honestly, darling, I have the most enchanting life!
Today I thought we'd have a proper girly chat about my latest discoveries, starting with…
Tutu Shopping Heaven: Vienna's Hidden Gems!
If you haven't already guessed, I love a good bit of shopping! And let me tell you, Vienna's been a real treat for a pink tutu-loving girl like me! You wouldn't believe the abundance of chic shops filled with all things fashion!
This week, I've been on the hunt for the perfect tutus for my Vienna performances and let me tell you, I've been absolutely spoilt for choice. I even found a hidden boutique in a quiet backstreet where they hand-craft gorgeous tutus using the most incredible fabrics, including this beautiful shimmering silk one that just has to make its debut on stage soon.
"Darling, you must get your hands on this!" I thought, excitedly. And honestly, I can't wait to share pictures of the new tutus I've picked up, so keep an eye out on the blog for my latest **"Pink Tutu Style" post!
But wait, there's more! I couldn't possibly neglect the history of the tutu, so naturally, I had to pay a visit to The Vienna Museum of Fashion and Textiles. You know me, a total history buff! They have the most amazing collection of historical garments, and they even had a whole section dedicated to the evolution of the ballet tutu! Just fascinating. From the simple skirts worn by the first ballerinas, to the voluminous, frilled wonders of the 19th century, it really was a ballet enthusiast's dream.
And wouldn't you know it, I stumbled across a rare little antique book at a bookstall near the museum! The title? "The History of the Pink Tutu!" Isn't that a bit serendipitous?
Of course, my day wouldn't be complete without a proper Viennese lunch. I chose the most adorable little cafe, tucked away on a sunny cobblestone street. It had the most charming tables outside, perfect for people-watching with a slice of Sachertorte and a delicious cup of Vienna's famous coffee.
Vienna by Night: The Magic of the Opera!
As the sun dipped below the rooftops of Vienna, it was time for the highlight of the week! The most splendid opera at the Vienna State Opera. Just as the "pink tutu fairy" descended (me, obviously!), a wave of excitement surged through the theatre. I must say, there was something utterly magical about being surrounded by all these fellow art lovers. The opera house itself is just breathtaking, and the costumes! Goodness gracious, the intricate beading, the beautiful silks and satins, it was like a wonderland of design!
This night was made extra special with my encounter with the wonderful ballerina, [insert a name of a famous Austrian ballet dancer], after the show! You simply couldn't have imagined the joy on my face when I realised it was her standing before me. She was so incredibly gracious and complimented my pink tutu! My day couldn't have been better.
Pink Tutu, Pink Tutu... everywhere!
As you know, my life's mission is to get everyone to embrace the joy of a pink tutu! You'll be happy to hear that Vienna is truly a pink tutu heaven! You see, everyone is so welcoming and accepting of all kinds of individual style. I had the absolute best time strolling around the city and spreading my pink tutu love – even inspiring some strangers to join me for a little spin! The feeling was truly contagious!
I was especially pleased to meet a lovely young ballet student who'd come to Vienna from Derbyshire, my home county! What are the chances, darling! We had a wonderful chat about our passion for dance and, of course, we both had to twirl a little.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to rush off! It’s nearly the weekend, and my pink tutu adventures will be taking me to some fabulous ballroom dance events - in pink tutus, naturally! I'm particularly looking forward to a traditional Viennese waltz class and I can’t wait to share all the highlights in my next blog post.

Until next time, darlings, stay chic, stay sparkly, and most importantly, stay in a pink tutu!
