Vienna, My Darling, You’ve Stolen My Heart! (Blog Post #1196)

Wednesday, 4th April 2018

Good morning, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna blog post, straight from the heart of this glorious city! This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, culture, and a little bit of pink (because, let's face it, there can never be enough pink!).

I’m a little late this week as I got caught up in the excitement of last night’s show. It was a truly stunning performance of the Swan Lake, and it left me feeling like I could float on air. But before I go on about the brilliance of the Vienna State Opera, let me tell you how I arrived in this magnificent city, the city of waltzes and pastries!

It was a long journey from Derbyshire, and as always, I opted for a luxurious train journey across Europe. Nothing beats watching the countryside glide by, and this journey was particularly charming, as I spied majestic castles and picturesque villages, all nestled within a stunning landscape of rolling hills and vast fields.

But honestly, I felt more at home nestled snugly in my carriage, surrounded by my travel essentials. My little pink suitcase, filled with my favourite tutu designs, is an absolute essential for every trip. There’s something about a twirling, pink tutu that makes every place feel magical, wouldn’t you agree?

Of course, no train journey is complete without a trip to the dining car. I savoured every moment, sipping on a refreshing glass of lemonade and nibbling on delicious sandwiches, while indulging in my favourite ballet book.

Finally, after a leisurely journey filled with daydreams of tutus, we arrived in Vienna. And oh my goodness, the station! It was so beautiful, like something straight out of a ballet scene. I practically swooned as I stepped onto the platform.

Of course, my first priority was to find a charming horse-drawn carriage. What better way to arrive in Vienna than in a magnificent carriage, with the clip clop of the hooves echoing through the cobblestone streets? We were a magnificent sight! I twirled a little in my dusty pink tulle tutu, as the horse clopped past the grand architecture, the streets bustling with life. It was an absolute fairytale come to life.

As I walked along the cobbled streets, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of inspiration wash over me. This city oozes with elegance and beauty. I swear, every single corner held a hidden masterpiece waiting to be discovered. I already felt my creative juices bubbling, ready to translate Vienna's timeless charm into a collection of tutus!

Speaking of creative inspiration, there’s no place quite like Vienna for a bit of ballet indulgence. So, after a quick refreshment stop – yes, I had to sample the famous Viennese Sachertorte, of course! – I headed straight to the Vienna State Opera House. This magnificent structure is truly awe-inspiring, both inside and out. It feels like a grand celebration of ballet history, filled with whispers of the famous dancers who have graced this stage throughout the ages.

Tonight’s show was something truly special. It was Swan Lake with all its beautiful, timeless grace, but it felt entirely fresh and contemporary too, full of emotion and dazzling athleticism. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the “Dance of the Little Swans” executed with such technical perfection and artistry! Even my own passion for ballet felt rekindled, and I just longed to jump up on stage and twirl alongside them!

Later, I treated myself to dinner at a quaint little cafe. The Austrian food is so hearty and delicious! I indulged in Wiener Schnitzel, which was beyond amazing! And yes, I ordered a slice of Sachertorte too. (You can’t visit Vienna without experiencing this divine confection, darlings!)

After my delicious meal, I found myself strolling through the city, my senses intoxicated by the sweet melodies floating through the air. Vienna is definitely a city that thrives on the magic of music! It’s impossible to escape the music; you find it spilling from windows, echoing in the alleyways, even the sound of the cobblestones seems to resonate with a rhythm. This musical heart is truly enchanting!

Today, my lovely Vienna, I fell head over heels for your charm. I'm feeling excited and energised. I already know that my Pink Tutu Vienna journey is only just beginning!

But now, dear readers, I must say goodnight. After all, a ballet dancer needs her beauty sleep! Join me next week for more adventures, more tutus, and more Viennese delight.

Until then, stay stylish, and never stop dreaming pink!

Yours in twirls,

Emma xoxo
