Pink Tutu Vienna: A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel! 🩰

Hello my darling tutu-twirling lovelies! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina blogger, back from the magical city of Vienna! 🇦🇹 This week’s post marks an extra special milestone: #1208 for my Vienna blog – a little reminder that dreams really do come true when you twirl with passion and a splash of pink!

Vienna… it’s a city where the very air whispers waltzes and the scent of coffee and strudel hangs heavy in the air. Oh, the delicious aromas that met me as I stepped off the train – a heady cocktail of my favourite things! But let’s be honest, Vienna isn’t just about cakes and pastries, although those are definitely a key component. 🍰 This city is all about culture, history, and a touch of the extravagant, all wrapped up in a beautiful package.

You might be asking yourselves, how did I, your average pink tutu-loving ballerina from Derbyshire, end up waltzing through the cobblestone streets of Vienna? Well, my darling tutu-friends, you know the drill – I twirl, I dance, I get paid. My recent performances in Edinburgh helped fuel my grand European adventure, and you can bet I was thrilled to make the journey here on the continent’s most romantic mode of transport: the train! 🚂 It was so exciting watching the landscapes roll by and dreaming about all the wonderful sights that awaited.

But let’s get to the nitty-gritty, shall we?

A Ballerina’s Paradise

The Viennese waltz has captivated my imagination ever since I first slipped on a pair of pointe shoes. To imagine the graceful swirls of ballerinas gliding across grand ballroom floors – it's the stuff of tutu dreams! Vienna is literally the cradle of the waltz, so I had to visit the Museum of Art History for some ballet-history inspiration! Seeing the intricate details of the costumes and sets from Vienna's glorious ballet past was simply enchanting. It’s no wonder ballet here has such a rich heritage – there's a beauty and elegance that can be felt everywhere in the city.

Of course, a trip to Vienna wouldn’t be complete without experiencing a real live ballet performance! Thankfully, the Vienna State Opera House was putting on a beautiful production of Swan Lake just a few days after my arrival! This incredible opera house has hosted the greatest ballet performances in the world – truly a monument to classical ballet. You could practically feel the ghosts of dancers past dancing alongside us, each delicate movement echoing through the magnificent hall. Oh, the emotions that danced through me as I watched the story unfold on stage! I nearly swooned! To make things even better, after the performance, I enjoyed the most heavenly strudel in a quaint little cafe nestled in the shadow of the Opera House – Vienna’s version of ballet and a delicious little treat to go with it!

Pink Tutu-tastic Fashion

You all know my love for a beautiful tutu and a fabulously colourful outfit. So you can imagine my sheer delight when I discovered the most extraordinary boutique on Graben street! It's called "Pink Paradise", and believe me, the name lives up to the hype. Inside, a rainbow of tutus in every shape, colour, and size glittered temptingly. My favourite? A pink one with delicate feather trim - absolutely divine! I couldn't resist adding it to my collection!

Vienna itself was an amazing spectacle of fashion – from the beautifully tailored gentlemen in traditional suits to the stunningly glamorous ladies sporting colourful floral patterns and extravagant hats! I took note for sure! Vienna has a sophisticated but undeniably quirky charm. I'm starting to understand the appeal of Austrian fashion – it's bold, colourful, and wonderfully eccentric. I can't wait to add a few Parisian-inspired touches to my own style!

From Horses to Heuriger

One of my favourite activities this trip has been discovering the beauty of Vienna from a horse's back! 🐴 Picture this: a bright pink tutu swirling in the wind as I take a leisurely trot through the Prater, Vienna’s iconic amusement park. I couldn’t resist a jaunt through the grounds on a gentle carriage ride, soaking in the sunshine and the festive atmosphere.

But no journey to Vienna is complete without a trip to a Heuriger! These cosy, family-run wine taverns offer a true taste of Austrian tradition – the hearty food, the rustic charm, the local wines, and the infectious joie de vivre. My absolute favourite was a traditional Viennese schnitzel with a side of creamy potato salad. It’s simple, yet delicious – the perfect dish for a lazy afternoon spent enjoying a glass of delicious Austrian wine!

Vienna: A City of Love

The waltz may be the dance of love, and my adventures in Vienna certainly confirmed that this is a city with an atmosphere full of love. 💓 There’s just something about Vienna – the stunning architecture, the beautiful music, the vibrant culture – it's like being wrapped in a warm, loving hug. This city just has this magical aura that makes you want to fall in love and twirl under the starry Viennese night.

Vienna, you have my heart! This trip has been a real tutu-tastic treat – from waltzing through history to finding the perfect pink tutu, this adventure has truly filled my days with happiness.

And remember, darlings, life is always best in pink! I'll be back next Wednesday with a new blog post from my travels around Europe, and until then, let your inner pink tutu princess shine!

Emma 💕
