Vienna: A Waltz in Pink! - Blog Post #1217

Wednesday, August 29th, 2018

Guten Tag, my darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu aficionado, writing to you from the enchanting city of Vienna. Yes, the waltz capital of the world, a city steeped in music, history, and, of course, the most exquisite pastries! It's almost impossible to imagine a more perfect backdrop for a tutu-loving ballerina, wouldn't you say?

Vienna, you see, is the epitome of elegance. The streets are lined with grand buildings, each whispering tales of waltzing emperors and waltzing empresses, their stories dancing on the wind. Everywhere you look, there's a symphony of colour – the vibrant gold of the Hofburg Palace, the rich burgundy of the Opera House, and, of course, the charming pastel pinks and baby blues of Vienna's quaint cafes and shops. I almost forgot! Don't even get me started on the gorgeous window displays! There is something about a vintage, Victorian style shop, piled high with lace and silk that absolutely melts my heart! I'm already imagining the perfect tulle to embellish my next pink tutu!

As a fellow travel enthusiast, you know my first mission in Vienna was to conquer the city's legendary public transport. And I didn't disappoint, darlings! You've heard me gush about my love for trains before, and let me tell you, Vienna's transport system is simply divine! It’s sleek, efficient, and utterly charming! The elegant trams, with their soft leather seats and ornate engravings, truly transported me back in time – I swear I saw the ghost of a dashing waltz enthusiast! But enough of me; how could I possibly forget my main objective for this trip?!

Yes, my friends, it's all about the dance. Tonight, I’m heading to the Vienna State Opera to witness the timeless magic of the “Sleeping Beauty” ballet. Oh, I can hardly wait! There is truly nothing quite as enthralling as the balletic art in a city where it feels as if music courses through the very air!

This city has already stolen a little piece of my heart with its charming charm. Everywhere I look, there are cobblestone squares, lively squares and graceful, historical buildings just waiting to be photographed, painted, danced on and waltzed in front of. My favourite new friend (and my photographer for the week) Emily (who, thankfully, knows where to get the best cappuccino in Vienna!) told me that my pink tutu was “making the cobblestones smile”!

As if this day couldn't get any more fantastic, I spent the morning doing a little bit of retail therapy. And guess what? I found the most fabulous vintage tea dress – you just wouldn’t believe the frills! It's perfectly pink, naturally, and even has a sweet, little, heart-shaped, crystal brooch! It's the ideal outfit to wear to the ballet this evening, wouldn’t you agree? Oh! I simply can’t wait to tell you about the hat I purchased as well... you are going to adore it!

Stay tuned, darling friends, as I share more about my adventures here in Vienna. Next up: exploring the glorious Schönbrunn Palace, and learning all about its connection to the history of ballet.

P.S. My love for all things ballet and all things pink is simply irresistible! Join me on this journey as I try to inspire you all to slip on a pink tutu – just for one day! Let's embrace life, spread a little love, and dance our way through this gorgeous city together!

See you soon,

Emma
