Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #1218

Vienna, 5th September 2018

Good morning, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! As you know, my travels have been taking me to some truly delightful corners of the world, and this week I find myself in the glorious city of Vienna. Oh, the music, the history, the architecture! And of course, the tutus!

You know I can't go anywhere without my trusty pink tutu, right? It's been quite the journey so far! I started this trip in Derbyshire, travelling by train, naturally, with my pink tutu tucked securely in my travel bag. The journey across Europe was an absolute delight! I was enthralled by the ever-changing landscapes, each passing field and mountain offering a new perspective. There’s something about the rhythmic clacking of the train wheels on the tracks that gets my inner ballerina bouncing!

Speaking of bouncing, once I reached Vienna, I was determined to find the most fabulous tutu shop in the city! And you wouldn’t believe what I found! A hidden gem tucked away in a quiet cobbled street, filled to the brim with tutus of every shape, size, and colour! Imagine my delight! It was like stepping into a fairytale. Of course, I simply had to buy a new one. I opted for a delicate pink number with shimmering sequins that whispered of a Viennese Waltz.

Naturally, no visit to Vienna is complete without seeing a ballet show, and oh, what a treat I have in store! Tonight, I'm heading to the Wiener Staatsoper for a performance of Swan Lake. I am so excited! The Staatsoper is truly magnificent, and I've heard whispers that the company has the most beautiful Swan Lake costumes, fit for a princess, of course! You know I'll be sure to document my experience for you all with lots of photos and, of course, a video. Just imagine, my pink tutu in the magnificent Staatsoper, twirling under the chandeliers! It’s pure magic!

Vienna, it turns out, has an almost obsessive love for tutus! You can see them everywhere. Everywhere you turn there’s a tutu store, or someone wearing one, even a man sporting a gorgeous bright pink tutu the other day - oh how lovely! It made my day!

And just when you think things can't get any more delightful, we discover that Vienna has its own Ballet History Museum. Yes, you heard that right, my darling tutophiles! You can actually learn about the history of tutus in this beautiful museum, tracing their evolution from humble beginnings to the magnificent masterpieces we know today. You’ll even find a gallery showcasing some of the world’s most famous ballerina’s famous tutus. I am in my element here!

Yesterday, I took a carriage ride through the heart of Vienna, and yes, you guessed it! I wore my sparkly pink tutu! As the carriage meandered through the beautiful streets, I felt like a real-life fairytale princess. The horse pulling our carriage even seemed to notice my sparkly pink tulle skirt and gave me a little neigh and a nudge with his nose.

As I strolled through the charming shops of Vienna, I couldn’t help but pick up a few beautiful pink things. Imagine my glee when I discovered the most exquisite pink dress adorned with delicate floral embellishments! It was made for dancing in! I had to get it, of course! I even found a beautiful pink parasol, which will look simply fabulous with my tutu as I stroll around the city in the afternoon sunshine.

This afternoon, I'm going to try something totally new - ballet on the street! Vienna has a vibrant street performance scene, and apparently, there’s a local dance group doing an open-air ballet routine in one of the city's central squares. Can you imagine the sheer delight of watching professional dancers twirling and pirouette under the open sky?

Speaking of delight, I simply had to have a taste of Viennese Sachertorte! Oh, it was a slice of heaven on a plate. That rich chocolate flavour, that fluffy cream... heavenly!

Tonight, however, is all about the Swan Lake ballet! I can barely contain myself. It’s so easy to forget, even in such a magnificent place as Vienna, how important the simple joy of a beautiful pink tutu is. After all, it reminds us that we can all be a bit of a princess if we choose to!

So, until next week my darlings, stay fashionable, stay sparkly, and never forget the magic of a pink tutu. Remember, pink tutus make the world a more beautiful place.
