Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #1240 - February 6th, 2019

Vienna, oh Vienna! My darling readers, I am back with another fabulous post from the glorious city of Vienna! This week, my lovelies, has been a whirlwind of tutus, waltzes and… well, more tutus. And some fabulous fashion finds, of course!

As you know, I adore a good train journey, so arriving in Vienna by rail felt wonderfully fitting. My pink tutu, naturally, took pride of place in the window seat, enjoying the views of rolling countryside whizzing past. I find travelling by train allows for such splendid opportunities for people-watching and taking in the ever-changing landscape, plus I can comfortably sip tea while catching up on my latest novels. My current obsession is “The Secret Garden”, a timeless classic. Have you read it, my darlings?

Speaking of timeless, Vienna itself is a treasure trove of history. From the stunning Schönbrunn Palace, a reminder of Habsburg grandeur, to the impressive St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Vienna offers a vibrant blend of imperial opulence and modern charm. Everywhere you turn there are whispers of Mozart, Strauss and Beethoven, their legacies swirling around you like the swirling skirts of my favourite tulle.

This week, I managed to catch a wonderful performance by the Vienna State Opera. The sheer talent of these performers was breathtaking – they danced with such elegance and precision that my toes were practically tapping along without my conscious thought! The atmosphere in the opera house was positively electrifying. And, darling, can you imagine? There I was, sitting front and centre in my glorious pink tutu, absolutely shining amongst all the glitz and glamour! I just knew that my pink tutu would be the perfect splash of colour amongst all those beautiful black dresses.

Speaking of glamorous, I must tell you about my wonderful shopping spree! I found a divine little boutique tucked away in a side street and it was like stepping into a whimsical dream. Velvet, lace, sequins – it was pure indulgence for the senses. I had to buy a new, exquisitely tailored tutu in the most vibrant shade of fuschia – simply irresistible!

Speaking of irresistible, can you believe it’s been a year since I had my horse riding lesson? I simply had to book another. Riding through the Viennese countryside with the wind in my hair felt incredibly liberating. My little mare, Penelope, was a perfect partner, trotting alongside me like an old friend. I'm looking forward to making it a regular occurrence. It really does make you feel alive, don't you agree?

I’m truly enamoured with this city. From its history and architecture to its delicious food, delightful fashion, and spirited art scene, it’s impossible not to fall under Vienna’s spell. There’s so much more to discover – I just know my next post will be brimming with exciting stories!

Until then, remember, my dears, a little bit of pink goes a long way. Don't be afraid to let your inner ballerina shine!

Love,

Emma x
