Vienna, Waltz & Wonderful Wednesdays - Pink Tutu Travels, Post #1241

Oh my darling tutu enthusiasts, I do hope this blog post finds you twirling in joy and wearing the most beautiful pink tutu! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dazzling Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! I'm currently writing this from my charming little hotel room in the heart of Vienna, overlooking a courtyard blooming with lilacs and fragrant with the sounds of a distant waltz.

As you know, I'm a firm believer in the transformative power of travel. There's no better way to expand your horizons and broaden your understanding of the world than by hopping on a train or a horse (you should see me gallop through the Austrian countryside!) and venturing out into the unknown.

This week's travels took me from the rolling hills of Derbyshire (oh, I miss my Mum's homemade rhubarb crumble!), across the channel to France and straight into the heart of Austria. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of flying. Honestly, I'd rather wear my best pink tutu and twirl my way across Europe by train - it's much more comfortable and far more enjoyable for a pink tutu enthusiast like myself.

But, let's rewind a bit... This post is about Vienna, the city of music, waltzes, and coffee - a haven for a tutu-wearing girl like me! So let's dive in to all the lovely details, shall we?

The Ballet Bliss Begins:

This journey all started with my latest ballet performance at the Derby Theatre - a sell-out show of "The Nutcracker". Oh, how I adore playing the Sugar Plum Fairy, even if it does mean hours and hours of practice in the studio! And of course, I made sure to wear my signature pink tutu, adorned with hand-stitched pearls and sparkling crystals. It was a glorious night, the applause of the crowd echoed through the theatre as I took my final bow.

The beautiful energy of the stage fueled me and soon enough, I was booked on the Eurostar to Paris (don't worry, I always make sure my trusty pink tutu case is in tow). The scent of buttery croissants and the twinkling lights of the city welcomed me with open arms, ready for a whirlwind weekend of exploring Parisian fashion, and yes, ballet, of course!

Tutu and Travel Essentials:

A pink tutu enthusiast needs the right attire for every occasion! Here are some of my travel must-haves for an enchanting and stylish trip:

  • A fabulous pink tutu: Always, ALWAYS, essential! It's not a trip if you aren't sporting a pink tutu, my dears! Whether it's for a dance class, a stroll through the park or an impromptu waltzing session on a Parisian street (you know, just a regular Tuesday evening for me!).
  • A classic black cardigan: Every elegant tutu needs a little bit of coverage, especially during chilly train journeys or chilly European evenings. This adds a touch of Parisian chic, wouldn't you agree?
  • A glamorous pair of pink ballerina shoes: It's not only comfortable but oh-so-chic to slip your little pink ballet feet into a stylish pair of matching ballet pumps. A perfect ensemble for a spot of afternoon tea or exploring museums.
  • A well-worn travel journal: This little notebook holds all my musings, sketches, and dance notes. After all, you never know when inspiration for your next tutu design will strike!
  • A tote bag adorned with my Pink Tutu logo: Perfect for carrying all your essentials and a bit of pink sparkle wherever you go!

Parisian Delights:

Paris never disappoints! This time, I went wild with my inner Parisian shopper, scouring vintage shops for one-of-a-kind accessories and unique pieces to add to my growing pink tutu collection. Let's just say, I couldn't resist picking up a gorgeous pair of pink feather boas, perfect for a special performance! I also made sure to have my afternoon tea in a charming café - I had my usual (scones with jam and cream, of course, with a pink champagne!).

Speaking of Parisian ballet, I stumbled upon the most beautiful performance at the Opéra Garnier - a breathtaking interpretation of "Swan Lake" by the Paris Opera Ballet. Seeing these ballerinas twirl and leap in their perfectly pristine white tutus was a dream come true! Of course, I couldn't leave without catching a glimpse of the famous Garnier’s Grand Staircase. I even found myself getting a little tutu twirl in the breathtaking setting! Oh, the stories those old marble walls could tell!

Vienna, Vienna:

Vienna is a city steeped in musical history, and the energy here is electrifying! Everywhere you look, you see stunning architecture and charming cafes bustling with life. The Musikverein concert hall is the heart of the Viennese classical music scene and, of course, the place for the legendary Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - I've booked myself a seat in the balcony for a show tomorrow! The Sacher Hotel (legendary home of the Sacher Torte - and don’t dare call it a chocolate cake, you’ll offend the locals!) is a beautiful palace of a hotel; a treat in every way (I have to try the cake!), but oh-so-grand!

Vienna also happens to be the birthplace of a famous dancer: Josefina Herz and you can visit the Viennese home she lived in - it’s actually a museum dedicated to ballet history. And there’s nothing like real ballet history, and, of course, the very real Vienna State Opera - where I will be visiting, in fact, to see what ballet they’re featuring this week!

Vienna has embraced all things ballet, and they have so many classes! Even barre classes that don’t require wearing a pink tutu (but of course, I did!), so the city is abuzz with excitement.

And just yesterday, I had a lovely visit to the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Art History), Vienna's main museum for art, history, and culture, housed in a grand building. There's always a little ballet to be found in paintings, in statues and even in beautiful portraits of the Habsburg Empire!

Vienna - my little pink tutu paradise

But honestly, nothing compares to finding the Tutu Boutique (not a euphemism!) on the Graben (Vienna's main shopping street - and a haven for shops!). The shop’s pink front door is a vision! The shop sells the most beautiful tutus (pink, naturally! ), as well as dresses and ballet accessories. I snagged a gorgeous pair of pink opera gloves (I might have to pair them with my Parisian feather boas!).

*The Future is Pink - (and Tutus) *

I feel a growing sense of excitement for this journey, and I know it will be full of beautiful ballet adventures and new friendships made in the heart of Europe! Vienna - you have charmed me! It's definitely worth a visit - and yes, everyone needs to put on a pink tutu and experience the magic!

And, of course, my darling readers, don't forget to keep checking my website www.pink-tutu.com each and every Wednesday for my next fabulous pink tutu adventures! Until then, remember to always twirl your worries away!
