Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, back from a whirlwind trip to Vienna, the City of Music! ✨ This week's post marks #1280 on www.pink-tutu.com, and as always, it's jam-packed with all things pink, tutus and, of course, Vienna!
Before we get to Vienna, let me share a little secret: I got my very first horse-drawn carriage ride this week! I've dreamt about this since I was a little girl watching classic movies, and I finally did it. Honestly, I think a carriage ride should be a mandatory part of every travel itinerary - just look at me! Picture me in my vibrant pink tutu, looking like a whimsical fairytale princess with a giant pink bow in my hair (obvs!), trotting along Vienna's charming cobbled streets. It was absolute bliss! 🐎
Vienna Calling:
I hopped on a train from Derbyshire last Sunday (loving that comfy carriage!), arriving in Vienna on Monday afternoon, just in time to catch the grandest fashion show. I'm not just talking about some random runway show; this one was a truly historical moment. You see, Vienna has this spectacular museum showcasing a century of costumes from the Vienna State Opera. They've got everything, from sparkling, feathered show-stoppers to graceful ballet tutus from the Vienna Ballet. It was like stepping back in time and the colours? Absolutely divine!
Speaking of colours, did I mention how many pink things I found in Vienna? It’s like the city was made for me! Pink pastel houses, pink floral displays, pink pastry fillings - my heart just about exploded with joy! And, oh my gosh, the shopping! From traditional boutiques selling stunning gowns and vintage pieces to high-street stores bursting with trendy pink accessories, I couldn’t help but go a bit pink-tutu crazy! 🛍️
Ballet Bliss:
Now, no trip to Vienna would be complete without seeing the world-famous Vienna Ballet! I treated myself to tickets to the enchanting 'Sleeping Beauty,' performed at the spectacular Vienna State Opera. I literally gasped when I entered the theatre, with its gold leaf and chandeliers sparkling brighter than the tutu in my dream! The costumes were opulent, the dancing was ethereal, and I couldn’t resist swaying in my seat along with the music. 🩰 I even managed to snag a glimpse of the ballet dancers rehearsing after the performance - I'm totally in awe of their dedication!
Vienna's Magic:
From the majestic Vienna State Opera House to the charming cafes and gardens, Vienna feels like stepping into a fairytale. The city has this magical air, almost like stepping back in time, but with modern flair. It’s no surprise this city inspired the likes of Mozart and Strauss!
And speaking of inspiration, you’d be amazed how many stylish Viennese ladies are already sporting their own versions of the pink tutu! 💃 Even on the tram, I spotted a young lady twirling her way through the carriage, her pink tutu shimmering in the sunlight - definitely my new inspiration for my next outfit.
