Hello darlings!
It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means! Another blog post from your favourite pink tutu-wearing traveller, Emma! 🦩 Today we’re waltzing into the heart of Vienna, the city of music, waltzes, and... you guessed it… tutues! 💖 This week’s adventure is particularly special, because it’s post number 1300, and that’s cause for a celebratory pirouette, wouldn’t you say?
It feels like just yesterday I was a Derbyshire lass, daydreaming about Vienna, but here I am, with a fresh pink tutu (just a hint of lilac to match the spring blooms!) and a head full of dreams.
As always, the journey itself is a highlight. This time, I travelled by train - something about the rhythmic chug-chug-chug and the panoramic views feels oh so romantic, don't you think? Plus, it gave me plenty of time to daydream about the enchanting world of Vienna awaiting me. ✨
Now, Vienna is a city that feels practically made for twirling! It’s overflowing with elegance, grace, and… you guessed it! The most exquisite selection of ballet costumes! 👠 You can imagine my excitement as I set off to explore. I even spotted a delightful vintage shop tucked away in a cobbled street, overflowing with tutus of every imaginable hue, colour, and style - a tutu-lover's paradise! 💎
But let’s be honest, Vienna isn’t just about ballet, it’s a city of history, culture, and delightful surprises around every corner. From the awe-inspiring Schönbrunn Palace, which whispered tales of emperors and empresses, to the vibrant atmosphere of the Naschmarkt, where every sense was overwhelmed with fragrant spices and delightful pastries. I’m practically convinced that each apple strudel in Vienna sings a delicate aria! 🍎🎶
Vienna, with its elegant cafes, grand architecture, and enchanting history, is truly a dream destination. There's nothing I love more than getting lost in the captivating charm of Vienna's cafes. You know the kind, where you sink into plush velvet seats, sip delicate porcelain cups of Vienna coffee, and find yourself in another era, perhaps enjoying a leisurely conversation with Mozart or Strauss? ✨☕
Today, however, it wasn't all tea and waltzes! This afternoon, I took a stroll through the gardens of the Volksgarten, the city’s favourite green space. 🌸 In this haven of blooming beauty, I stumbled upon an enchanting performance - street dancers effortlessly blending modern moves with classic ballet poses. It was a vibrant, joyous celebration of art, proving that even the most ordinary corners can come alive with captivating beauty. 💃
I finished the day with a thrilling performance at the Wiener Staatsoper. This wasn't just any ballet; this was "Swan Lake", one of my all-time favourites! The choreography was a mesmerizing blend of graceful moves and intricate storytelling, and the costumes were so elaborate, it was like watching a tapestry come to life! 🦢 The feeling of awe as the swans danced, their movements blending with the delicate music, left me feeling as if I were part of a dream. 💫
Of course, no visit to Vienna is complete without a taste of the city's delicious treats. Today's indulgence? A divine Sachertorte! I swear it was infused with magic! Every bite transported me back to the Habsburg era, surrounded by glittering balls and captivating waltzes. I practically felt my pink tutu twirling alongside the elegant figures of Viennese history! 🍰
But it’s not just the city itself that captured my heart this week. This week's biggest highlight was the chance to meet another pink tutu-lover like myself. Imagine my delight when I saw a young lady at the Staatsoper sporting a fabulous pink tutu adorned with dazzling sequined details - a total inspiration! 🤩 We talked all about our shared love for dance and our dream to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu - because isn't it the most expressive, joyful garment? 💖✨
